Not to sound like a negative person like alum, but what are we going to do after this season, I mean we don't have any young LB recruits. Is there a reason for this?

I remember bob davies last class for Notre dame and that man recruited like 6QB's and 5 TE's and ruined ND for a few seasons, I hope that NIU doesn't fall into that category of a team that recruiting of a certian position really hurt us.

By the way does anyone belong to insiders and can read the article about where this kid plans to go?

It says decision by the weekend....
I think the LB position is something that you do not necessarily have to recruit for. You can always teach big d-backs or small linemen to play linebacker. I understand your concern on this issue, but even if LB's arent recruited I think NIU's commitment to team speed defensively will always make it easier to plug someone in and do a great job at this positoni.

Big D Backs? Or linemen?

I hear what you are saying, but maybe its just me thinking that we would be better off with some true linebackers, instead of kids who have to learn on the job. But I do understand what you are saying maddawgz, lots of schools do what you are talking about.
We've recruited one true linebacker a season. And I think that Joe likes to convert DE's or even RB's over to LB, so that may explain the heavy influence from these positions on our recruiting lists.

Here is a link to this MAC website. You'll see the site owner post on the MAC board every once in awhile. He really knows his stuff.

[QUOTE]Evans Adonis was the #1 ranked WR prospect in Dade County (Miami) as a senior.[QUOTE]

Well my goodness, I had no idea that we got a player of that calibur, i thought we just signed some unknown florida guys. That is a really great job, A late 04-bow to joe novak for that one!

The linebacker position is one of those that you don't often directly recruit for, rather you try to shape select guys whose primary position was something else in high school. More often than not, skill set and athletic trait become the emphasis of recruiting versus demonstrated play at linebacker.

Does anyone know who our top backup LB's are? I would assume that we already have some in place to take over for the Hawk and the beast.
Hutton and Lee will anchor next year as Srs. It will be interesting to see the depth chart for the backups that could take a starting place next year. I though thtey were pretty high on McLearen. One of the QBs could also move over during Fall?
The last 2 articles about the WI kid (Fiacco), he indicated it was between Iowa State and NIU. It sounded like he really liked Coach Pittman and NIU's location was his 2 main interests in us. Hopefully we can land this dude...
