South Bend (IN) - The prestigious Meyo Invitational Mile, held in conjunction with the University of Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational, brought out the best in a trio of Eastern Michigan runners. The Eagles, showing the type of talent and depth that led them to a third place finish at this year's NCAA Cross Country Championships, were led by two-time NCAA Champion, Boaz Cheboiywo's third place finish in 3:58.07, just off the MAC all-time record. Cheboiywo was followed closely by fellow teammates and All-American's Gavin Thompson (4:00.41) and Jordan Desilets (4:01.37) as they have three of the top-9 time in the country so far this season!

In the men's 60-meter dash, MAC athletes swept the top-3 positions with Central Michigan's Johnie Drake continuing his impressive season taking individual honors in 6.76. Drake was followed by EMU's Yemi Olatunji in 6.78 and CMU's Clive Roberts in 6.80. Roberts then came back in the 60-meter high hurdles with an NCAA provisional mark of 7.88 to finish third in that event as well. Drake also came back in a latter event to finish 4th, behind WMU's Rashad McDade's MAC-leading 21.27, in the 200-meters with an impressive 21.75 on the big oval.

Eastern Michigan's Nduka Awazi improved on his NCAA provisional mark in the 400-meters. The senior long sprinter won the 400-meters with a time of 46.73, the fastest time by a MAC athlete so far this season.

Western Michigan's Chris Seats, the defending MAC Outdoor 800-meter champion, ran a MAC-leading 1:51.16 to finish 4th overall. Central Michigan's Ian Searcy also ran a season-best time in the same heat as he moves into the #3 spot in the MAC with a 1:51.93.

In the men's 5000-meters, Central and Eastern Michigan runners ran six of the top-8 fastest times so far this season by MAC athletes. That group was led by Central Michigan's Don Wilkins as he finished 2nd overall with a time of 14:15.62. Also chiming in with an impressive PR was EMU's Steve Crane in 4th with a time of 14:20.68.

In the men's triple jump, the MAC once again was impressive with a 1-2-3 sweep of the event. The trio of MAC athletes was led by Western Michigan's TJ specialist Jason Evelyn as he creeps ever closer to the elusive 50-foot barrier with a leap of 15.13m (49-7.75). Evelyn was trailed by EMU's Antony Yaich and Abdallah Mohamed in 14.92m (48-11.5) and 14.72m (48-3.25) respectively.

Eastern Michigan's 4 x 400m relay hit the NCAA provisional mark (in yards) as they ran the imperial mile relay standard with their 2nd place performance of 3:11.45 (which converts to 3:10.25 for 4 x 400m). It is the fastest time in the Mid-American Conference so far this season.

Western Michigan's Distance Medley Relay became the first MAC school so far this season to crack the 10:00 barrier. The foursome covered the yards distance in 9:58.14, which converted to a MAC-leading time of 9:54.64 for the meters distance.

For the men, EMU, CMU and WMU will all head to Butler this weekend for the prestigious running of the Cannon IV Classic.

For the women, WMU's Heather Johnson continued to establish herself as one of the top long sprinters in the conference as she had season-best times of 24.64 and 55.21 in the 200-meters and 400-meters respectively. Johnson's time in the 400-meters is the fastest time recorded in the MAC so far this season while her 200-meter time ranks her #3.

Western Michigan's Sarah Hinkley also continued her impressive improvements as she became only the 4th MAC runner this season to break the 10:00 barrier in the 3000-meters with her time of 9:53.52, winning her heat by nearly 20-seconds.

Eastern Michigan's Lela Nelson moved into the conference's #2 spot in the long jump as she leaped to a season-best jump of 6.07m (19-11). Eastern Michigan also moved into the top MAC spot in the Distance Medley Relay with their converted time (from yards) of 11:47.19.
