The following day, the Ohio University football caravan arrives in Parkersburg. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at 19th Street Country Club near Parkersburg High School. The public is invited to participate in a block-party atmosphere.

Also on hand at the festivities were OU Marketing Coordinator Luke Sayers and his staff.

This year for the first time, the public had a choice of socializing with Knorr and his entourage in the air conditioned tavern or outside in the fresh air under the OU tent. Also, the Bobcat mascot was present to mingle with the adults and children.

"When this first started a few years ago, it was small, but it's grown and grown," said 19th Street Country Club proprietor Dave Wright. "The turnouts have been great, but we want to accommodate more people, because the tavern's pretty small. So we got the tent to get more people involved." During his outside talk, Knorr said that "West Virginia is a great state for us."

I hear that all 5 die-hards that attended this thing had one heckuva good time.
Not only do I feel we have the personnel, but the kids are very excited about it," Knorr said. "We have the best receivers we've had in the 10 years I have been here. We have two quarterbacks, who not only can run but are very good throwers."

Senior Ryan Hawk gets the nod as starting quarterback over sophomore Austen Everson. Hawk started four games last season.

"Ryan Hawk is our guy," Knorr said. "He played injured last year and is a guy our players have a lot of confidence in. Our coaching staff has a lot of confidence in him also."

And all this time I assumed he was a heterosexual.
Parkersburg?

The best thing to ever come out of Parkers. . .

Nevermind. :(
Coach Brian Knorr : He said that the team is very excited about the new offense and can't wait to get the season underway. He also said that summer workouts are strictly voluntary, but they have had 70 guys stay on campus to lift and run some drills on their own. that is twice as many as ever before.

Luke Sayers, Marketing Coordinator: I talked to him about newspaper, tv, and radio coverage in our area and he told me that the Marietta, Parkersburg News, and WTAP actually called them and asked for the dates and times for several athletic functions such as Media Day, and the Caravan stops. Believe it or not but they all showed up last night. Luke also said that they are trying really hard to establish better relationships with all area and regional media outlets. Hopefully they succeed!
