1. Hoops tournament talk

2. Spring football game around the corner

3. Ridiculous St. Patricks Day bar ads on the radio

4. Detroit Tigers' first loss of the season in a few weeks

5. I'm not driving to/from work in total darkness anymore

6. And, best of all, this...

Detroit, MI forecast high temperatures:

Saturday - 55
Sunday - 54
Monday - 51
Tuesday - 56

The last time I saw temperatures like this around here, WMU was adding another touchdown to beat CMU in Mt. Pleasant. :D
Oh.

I thought you were going to say, "SEC school gets into trouble with the NCAA."
Our Winters are a combination of Fall and Spring.

The UCF Spring football game is this Friday evening.

I thought he was going to say: An Akron/Kent/EMU fan boldly predicts that with this new coach/offensive scheme/defensive scheme this is the year they turn it around.

Geez, we are sooooo beyond that..., but I hear this new (Insert position and unproven recruit's name here) may be the real deal. :D 03-lol 03-lol 03-lol 03-lol
Yeah, wasn't that guy recruited by WVU, Florida, FSU, Ohio State, and Michigan, but he chose Kent, instead? :D
Yeah, and I heard he can (please choose one):

1) Run a legit 4.2

2) Do 50 reps of 250

3) Catch balls one-handed while humming

4) hit a fly on a wall with a football from 67 yards
That's right! No one has seen anything like him since [insert NFL great's name here] came out of high school. He may even be better by the time he's through!
03-wink
Yeah, he'll break all of (choose your MAC record-holder's name)'s marks before he's through.

I would like to rescind option 4. I feel that this year's Tigers are going to be phenomenal for the first two weeks. After that, the other teams will begin to use their starting players against the Tigers. I feel the only reason the Tigers exist in the major leagues is to allow the rest of the teams to have a psuedo "spring training" during the year. Anytime someone has to play the Tigers they should have to play their second teamers. Or bring up AAA players to get them game experience.
All you need to know about the Tigers:

Steve Sparks 8-16, 5.52 ERA.

He's a knuckleballer. And he's the staff ace. :crying:

Football is in the air... already we're racking up injuries.

Nah...the ace this year will be 20 year-old Jeremy Bonderman. The kid has looked awesome this spring. Dave Domnbrowski is a fricking genius! He took the A's for Pena, Franklyn German and Bonderman for Jeff Weaver. (the A's then traded him to the Yanks for a couple of prospects)

Bonderman will probably be a #1 quality starter, German is a Lee Smith clone with a 96MPH late movement fastball and Pena looks to be a fixture at 1B for the next ten years. Not a bad haul for a starter that couldn't crack the Yankee rotation. 04-cheers
That trade does look better than it did last year.

But this is going to be one *long* baseball season in Detroit. Bonderman is good, but he's 20. He probably belongs in Erie, Pa. right now.

Not in Athens, it's not!

<span style='color:green'>What's the combined score of our last two meetings? Is it Ohio 86, CMU 6?

Yes, I seem to recall something like that.

We may not have scoreboard on a lot of teams, but we do on the Chips. Perhaps you should track down a little of what we're smokin'. 03-razz

I think he was referring to the fact that the football rarely goes into the air in Athens.
:D

RF...lemme know if Bonderman's gonna play in Erie....I live up here now, and goin to seawolves games are fun...they've got dollar beer night on every monday home game...dollar 16oz drafts and buck hotdogs...you can't beat it!
Unless Bonderman breaks a leg, there is no way he is not going to Detroit at the end of the month. He threw four innings yesterday and allowed only one run on one hit. That's his first earned run of the spring.

This is just enough to keep me interested in the Tigers. I hope this season is better than last, otherwise it's a long wait for Rockets football.

Sounds fun... more fun, in fact, than Utica Blue Sox games were back when I lived there. At the time, Erie was in the New York-Penn League, too, but then the Seawolves went and got too good for the likes of Batavia, Williamsport and Staten Island. :)

(And "Mahoning Valley," yes yes).
