Does anyone on here know the highest a MAC football player has ever been drafted........Pennington was something like 18 or 19 a couple of years ago......I wonder if Byron has a good chance of being the highest drafted MAC football player ever.
Let's hope the Bengals don't get him. As soon as a QB puts on a Bengals uniform his arm and future turn to mush.

Unless your name is Boomer.
Randy Moss went, I believe, in the middle of round one in '98.

I looked into the top draft picks from the M.A.C.

Dan Williams, Toledo - 1993
*11th pick overall.

Chadd Pennington, Marshall - 2000
*18th pick overall.

L.J. Shelton, Eastern Mich. - 1999
*21st pick overall.

Randy Moss, Marshall - 1998
*21st pick overall.
Dante Culpepper but he technically wasn't in the MAC.

Bernie Casey, the Bowling Green WR, went 9th overall in 1961, when the 49ers drafted him. That tops Daunte Culpepper, incidentally.

Any MAC player ever go higher than that?
I don't think I have the energy to go searching right now so I guess you win 03-wink
Figured I would try to do some research on this subject. Since Jack Lambert of Kent State was on my mind, I decided to check with the Golden Flashes first.

Okay, I have to find my Broncos Football Media Guide to give you all of the WMU draft picks over the years.

Schools I could not find anything on were:

Akron, Buffalo, Bowling Green, Miami, Northern Illinois and Ohio.

By the way, the highest selected individual in my research has turned up...

Dan Williams of the Toledo Rockets. Dan was the 11th pick in the first round of the 1993 draft.

Are you sure about Casey, RF? Williams always gets touted as the highest drafted MAC player.
Seriously. Casey did go ninth overall. This is the second link I've found that seems to bear this out:

John52168: Kudos on the research! 04-bow
According to Rochester's site he found, the first draft was in 1936. I know this was before the MAC, but Art Lewis (Ohio U.) went #9 in the 1st round in the first ever NFL draft.
