Of course, it doesn't hurt that Ohio is a battleground state.

Are you referring to <a href='http://wiwi.essortment.com/toledowar_rzxq.htm' target='_blank'>THIS</a> again?
Or perhaps <a href='http://www.limanews.com/display/inn_news/news01.txt' target='_blank'>THIS</a> (I can hear Oddball lamenting, "Where's John David Stutts when you need him?!")

I just hope somebody managed to hook the President up with a burger (single: mustard, pickle, onion) and a malt from the Kewpee while he was in town.
Isn't this the guy who wrote a textbook on economics and ranted about how budget deficits are really bad for the economy (when this phenomenon was blamed on democrats) and then changed his mind when his party was the one creating record deficits through massive tax cuts? This man has no credibility. If I was graduating that day, I would turn my back or employ the read-the-newspaper tactic to let him know that I was aware of his rediculous partisan political stand. We as a nation need to stop letting politicians on both sides divide us and use us for their own gains!
I'd probably sit there semi-drunk, try not to do anything that would publicly embarass my grandmother on what is supposed to be a nice family occasion, and resolve to vote for the other guys next year.
To return to the important issue, does anyone know whether the President got to eat at the Kewpee?

Doesn't look good
<a href='http://www.limanews.com/display/inn_news/news02.txt' target='_blank'>Harlan's BBQ? Hope it's good</a>
Serving Ohio barbeque to a Texan?
I'd have gone with the Kewpie's!!
Unless, of course, this Ohioan was at the grill. :D
Harlan's usually barbeques chickens. It's pretty good stuff, though I tend to associate it with the dinner wagon at estate sales or farm implement shows.
I still think I'd've served the President a Kewpee single, a malt, and a piece of sugar cream pie.
I got to eat Eastern NC 'cue in Durham this weekend, so I'm a happy man this morning.
I've got to give Dubya the props that he probably knows how to party, Texas style and there's not too much Lima could show him about burning beef.
It's like a trip I made to visit some friends in Louden Co. VA and they thought they try their hand at Cincinnati chili in my honor. I appreciate the gesture, but there's no way they could deliver the goods.
:hungry:

I got to admit that I prefer NC style bbq w/ yeller sauce...at least for pork. Athens had a couple of great bbq restaurants. Despite still being in the deep south (MD and VA) Red, Hot and Blue is the best the area has to offer...by far. I did have some very good ribs at RH&B, and for a chain they do a very good job.
Back to Bush in Lima...I emphatically agree w/ DG...they shoulda given the man some Kewpies, and sugar creme pie.

axeme, the next time you're in the area and people want to feed you chili, ask your friends to make a road trip to <a href='http://www.hardtimes.com/index.htm' target='_blank'>Hard Times Cafe</a>. It has the real-deal Cincinnati-style chili. The owners are from Sidney and are great guys.
In my experience, yeller sauce on 'cue is more of a South Carolina thing. The traditional Eastern NC sauce consists simply of vinegar in which one hell of a lot of cracked red pepper has been steeped. For extra kick, one then adds a few drops of Texas Pete hot sauce (which, despite the name, is made in Winston-Salem). I tend to wash this down with a big glass of sweet tea while promising to take better care of my arteries and blood sugar levels next week.
I'll take that under advisement, DG, but my experience in life so far has led me to the conclusion that if it's not Camp Washington (which IS Cincinnati Chili) or, in a pinch, Skyline, then it's just not as good. Sometimes, though, you just have to make do: I'll confess to a Gold Star on occasion, even an Empress.
There is a Skyline in Lima now, you know.
NO! I didn't know that.
Devil Mom moved from the Homeland back to the greater *cough* Athens metropolitan statistical area after Dad died, so I haven't been back there in several years. I guess I can add Skyline to the list of reasons to finally attend a class reunion some day.
Camp Washington still rules, though.

It's right off 75 where all those chain places have sprung up--125?--but the catch is, just the other way is that Kewpie that's down the road from Lima Senior. I usually have to opt for the Kew when I'm in the area.
