With all the talk of Miami, BC and one other Big East team moving to the ACC and Pitt going to the Big Ten +1, I was just playing around with some things and I have come up with a National Championship playoff bracket.

With the Big East basically being depleted with Miami's leaving, the conference would virtually cease to exist leaving a total of 10 conferences, 5 BCS and 5 mid-major. There would end up being 2 more conference championship games bring the total up to 5.

From the 5 BCS conferences take the top 2 teams. Take the Confernece Champions from the MAC, C-USA, MWC, Sun Belt and the top 2 teams from the WAC. Giving you a tournament of 16 teams.

The playoff would get under way the 2nd week of December. 8 teams would advance another week to play in the 3rd week of December. In the 4th week the semifinals would be held. Once the National Championship participants are determined the National Championship would be held 2 weeks later. Instead of holding the National Championship at a bowl game site, start making potential cities bid for the National Championship game, much like cities now do for the Super Bowl.

Just one change to my post above. Instead of the WAC getting two bids, give them one and give one to an independent provided they finish with a winning record.

What's so special about the WAC? Why the top 2 teams from that conference?

Anyway, I don't think the BE would cease to exist. They would still have VT and WVU. Quite a few teams in the MAC and C-USA would love to join those two.

Good idea in theory RF, except have the at large bids go to the top 6 ranked teams not already included as conference champions.
