This year, his so-called "breakout year" where EMU finished a whopping 14-14 was based on the play of two seniors who are no longer around for next season. I keep saying that Mack McCarthy's going to get the job and I'll stick with that prediciton until proven wrong (likely to be around the time the new coach shows up at the press conference).
