Anyone here a fan of D3 football seeing as how we have some really good teams in the midwest? I usually root for Wittenberg but I am also a fan of OAC football. Does anyone else follow D3 sports?
I hate to admit it, but I really don't follow DIII or NAIA sports much anymore..............I do check the rankings to see if Ohio/Indiana/Ky schools like Wittenberg, Hanover, or Georgetown (KY) are doing well.....we have a DIII school in my town (North Central College), and they have a beautiful stadium (where the Chicago Fire pro soccer team has played the last two years), but sadly I haven't even been to one of their games.
i follow otterbien a little, but thats just because a bunch of people i went to school with go there.
There really is a d3?
I graduated from a D III school, so I check things out.

Frankly I have little good to say about my alma mater, so I relish watching Mt. Union beat the snot out of them.

The strength of DIII football in OH just shows how pigskin crazy that state is. PA, FL and TX may have their football fans, but I think OH leads the way.
Mt Union is a huge draw for a D III school here in Ohio. They have won what? 5/6 national championships in the last decade
Yep, D-III all the way. I graduated Ithaca College. I still try to make it to some playoff games like last year when they beat Montclair(NJ)....but then they lost to RPI in the Qtr finals. Ithaca has won 3 national football titles.....the last being my senior year in 1988. Back when I was in school, the big national rival was Augustana (ILL). I think they have since dropped the program. As I recall, Mt.Union wasn't even a blip on the radar back in the mid-late 1980's.
I try to follow some D3 football but it usually ends up with Mt Union winning everything...although St John's beat them in the title game last year. Every year I wish for John Carroll to beat Mt Union but they never do. I don't have anything against the Purple Raiders and Larry Kehres is an awesome coach. I'd just like to see some other school win the OAC ONCE!

Au contraire. Augustana still plays and competes in the CCIW.

Oh cool. Thanks for the link. Glad to see they're still around. Not sure why I thought their program was gone?!? Seemed like they were the king of the D-III landscape for so many years and then I stopped hearing about them.
I do only because I've ot some friends and family at Baldwin Wallace near Cleveland. OAC football, that's about it.
Go Polar Bears!
I root for Oberlin because I figure any of us could have played there. :)
I also should mention that have a lot of admiration for the schools in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. (I'm secretly hoping that at least one of the Devil Children is interested in Williams.)

I'll always have a place in my heart for the Yellow Jackets. I have several family members who attended BW, and I was born just around the corner from the school in Berea.

I've always thought of Baldwin-Wallace as my hometown team. 03-wink

Before the MAC, Baldwin Wallace was a very big rivalry for Bowling Green. I believe Bowling Green has played B-W more times than any other school outside of the MAC.
From what I am reading, Mt Union just had its best recruiting year ever. some people feel capital may give them a little bit of a fight this year.
Up here , I follow Mt. Union. I also check in on John Carroll and Baldwin-Wallace. And I like to watch the D-III NC game on tv. :)
I try to catch the championship game every year and see who Mount Union is playing (really).
