Conferences are ready for the big shake up. How should the MAC react? I'll assume that its a "Done Deal" with Marshall and UCF, leaving the league.

KC's MAC plan:

West Division: EMU, CMU, WMU, NIU, BSU, UT

East Division:MU, OU, BGSU, KSU, UA, UB

Pass a 15k grandfather clause to protect the MAC.

MACC Championship game moved to the Cleveland Brown's stadium. This would help MAC recruiting tremendously.

A Third Bowl game guarenteed.

With Xavier moving to the Big East and Dayton to CUSA, its time to step up the MAC Basketball TV package at the expense of the Atlantic-10.

Do you really think the MAC will get a 3rd bowl game by losing Marshall and UCF and dropping to 12 teams?
Maybe I'm just dumn, but I don't see any team getting left out.
Like I've said before...I feel that the MAC will stay intact.

I think the MAC will eventually get schools placed as backups for BCS conferences that don't have enough Bowl elgible teams. A few bowl elgible MAC teams will be left out every year though. The only way to ensure the MAC gets the bowls it deserves is to add more tie-ins.

The MAC should have 3 Bowl tie-ins is what I'm saying. Look at the teams that have stayed behind over the last 2 years:

2002

BG (9-3)
NIU (8-4)

2001
BG (8-3)

The MAC is at least 3 Bowl teams deep.

It's all about money and fan support. No 3rd place MAC team is going to bring either unless its UCF or Marshall playing a bowl game in the south.

No, quailty of opponent sometimes can factor in. Some bowls don't need money, or support from the visting teams.
