CFN has a list of the top 50 college football players for the upcoming year. The MAC has three players on that list. They are....
#25) Jason Babin, DE Westerm Michigan Sr. One of the premier pass rushers in America, Babin is a big, lightning quick player that finished with 94 tackles, 26 tackles for loss and 15 sacks last season. Also able to line up at tackle, the coaching staff is going to have to get creative with him since offenses are going to double and triple team him all season.
#26) Josh Harris, QB Bowling Green Sr. There are more effective runners, and many can throw the ball better, but there aren't many 6-3, 225-pound quarterbacks that can do everything that Harris can. He completed 56% of his throws with 19 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions last year. While he's a good passer, he's deadliest on the move rushing for 737 yards and 20 touchdowns. When the Falcons brought in Andy Sahm to mix things up, Harris was used as a receiver catching three passes for 51 yards and two scores. He won't get any Heisman consideration, but there aren't many more productive players in college football.
#27) Michael Turner, RB Northern Illinois Sr. Turner was supposed to be the two in the 1-2 rushing punch joining Thomas Hammock . All Turner did was tear off 1, 915 yards and 19 touchdowns averaging 5.7 yards per carry showing a great combination of speed and power. Talk about your workhorses, Turner had 29 or more carries eight times and ran for 200 or more yards five times. He tore through Miami and Eastern Michigan for 5 touchdowns against each.
I don't always agree with CFN, but any time you get named as one of the top 50 players in the Nation it is no small feat. Hats off to those guys.
I have never had the pleasure of seeing Babin play in person, but that will change this year....hopefully, it will still be a pleasure. :D
He is a STUD!!
Harris (IMO) is the best QB in the league. Roethlisberger may be a better "pure" passer but Harris is more versatile.
Turner could obviously play on any team in college football and we will no doubt see him on Sundays next year.
For anyone interested in seeing the top 50.....
