WTF? The ACC is starting to piss me off. They seem to want everything changed for the benefit of their needs & wishes. I now wish Miami and Va Tech had just said NO.
Oh don't give me that load of crap whiney pile.

Hmmm.. Who else would be interested and for this motion?

Big 10 -> 11 teams
Pac 10 -> 10 teams
WAC -> 10 teams
C-USA -> 11 teams soon to be 10 teams
The larger conferences also might support this to fend off the next attack of the Swofforaptor. But you'll forgive those of us who have seen our leagues enter into unwieldy -- and sometimes unholy -- alliances in order to get to the magic twelve if we are less than wholly enthusiastic about ACC's latest attempt to unscrew this particular pooch.
If the ACC expands, it'll be to include Notre Dame.

You folks heard the news that everybody's conception of ND's NBC contract is wrong?

NBC doesn't feel like they're getting an adequate return on investment. And the contract expires in 2004.

As for the results of ACC expansion as it stands now: Miami is a will be a great fit. People didn't talk about it for years just to humor themselves. Unfortunately, politicians in Virginia have nothing better to do than keep their nose where it doesn't belong.

Then the ACC won't be expanding then. 'Cuz ND ain't going to join the ACC, ever.

It expires in 2005... and NBC made a freakin' mint off of that thing last year. Message board fodder regarding ND is best taken with a big grain of salt.
If NBC didn't want to do another contract with ND, they would be headed to the Big Ten as team #12. They would not be happy with going to the ACC. None of their yearly games are against ACC teams. Just doesn't make sense. They usually play a couple Big Ten teams every year. That makes more sense.

Or......maybe they join the Big East and become the leader in the Big East. They normally play Boston College and the last couple of years they have played Pitt.

Those 2 options make more sense for ND than the ACC does. Nothing against the ACC, it just doesn't fit in for ND that well.

I've got to take your back on this one, Pops (much as it pains me 03-wink )
