Sounds like good news! I like Joe taking time outs to ice the kid. 04-bow
What an original idea! I guess that's why he's the coach, and I'm just a fan. 04-bow

It sounds a little different from what Joe Paterno said about the kicking game: "I don't talk to kickers. What do you say to kickers? Kick!?".
I was there to watch the beginning and end to Saturday's practice....remember we are talking about a very untrained eye here who saw bits and pieces...only about a dozen others were present.

The kick was a line drive with no real defensive rush. It would have likely been blocked in many a game. Don't get too optimitstic by the prospect of one successful, "pressure" kick. Sorry. It was a baby step.

Altho it was amusing and caused teamates to chuckle or groan when Novak called the time outs, the best part afterwards to end the session was the team gathering at centerfield and roaring :
We're Huskies ..We execute.... We're Huskies.... We Execute !

In one of the last plays during "scrimmage", an easy flair, forward pass in flats was dropped. They ran it again and it was caught but was actually a lateral as QB and receiver were not in right places. Drop that baby and it's a loose ball.

Much of the two hours was spent working in units : linemen, receivers/defenders etc and little time in firsat units running plays with complete offense/defense on field ....mostly situation plays run (I saw alot more passes than runs) without alot of contact...Haldi may have more zip on his passes than last year...

Despite the above...Huskies looked crisp for an early practice session.

Horvath looking more like the backup to date.
Joe is a saint! He's a great motivator, teacher, and a real fan's coach. I rue the day when he retires. When he finally does, I will be among the first to donate money to erect a huge statue of the man outside Huskie Stadium. If I were in the position to completely fund the endzone facility, I would build it to his wishes and then name it for Carole and him. He's a real winner despite questionable support from the administration. Long live St. Joe!! 04-bow
