Besides the recent Boston Globe article.......do you know something we don't know????

Maybe from the MAC AD meeting tues or wed ??

Give it up....please :D
Possibly referring to the WKU to the MAC discussion?

If all the spec is true (which it probably isn't....maybe) I will always be a MAC fan.........I have such great respect for the programs in this conference! 04-rock
From the Providence, RI "Providence Journal" dated 8-7-03

08/07/2003

PROVIDENCE (AP) -- Representatives from remaining schools in the Big East will continue to meet to discuss the conference's future makeup, and whether schools with football programs would leave.

Most of the schools met with Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese on Tuesday at a Newark, N.J., airport hotel. The presidents of Boston College, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Villanova and St. John's joined athletic directors from Rutgers, Seton Hall and Syracuse attended the meeting, said league spokesman John Paquette.

Representatives from Providence College, Connecticut, Notre Dame, and West Virginia did not attend, Paquette said. Also, Temple, whose football team plays in the Big East through next season, but otherwise is not affiliated with the league, was not at the meeting, according to Paquette.

The meeting "was another exploratory discussion," Tranghese said in a statement. "No decisions on our future structure were reached."

More meetings are expected to be held, though none have been scheduled at this time, the commissioner added.

Arthur Parks, the PC sports information director, said that the Friars were represented at the meeting by the other basketball schools, and noted that Connecticut and West Virginia likewise were represented by the other football schools.

"Because we weren't there it doesn't mean we were left out in the cold or that we didn't want to be there," Parks said, explaining that summer vacations and the short time frame for the meeting made it difficult for PC to attend.

The Big East is examining a possible realignment, since Miami and Virginia Tech decided to join the Athletic Coast Conference at the start of the 2004-05 academic year. Two main options are under consideration: one is for the schools with football programs -- Boston College, Connecticut Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse and West Virginia -- would depart and form a new league, according to Big East officials.

The other is for the football schools to remain in the conference, and possibly expand the federation to 16 teams, the officials said.

Schools rumored to be part of any expansion include Central Florida, Cincinnati and Louisville for football, and add Marquette and Xavier in basketball. Paquette would not speculate on any additions, and said no contacts have been made with any of them.

"We have to decide what we are until before we can go out and talk with people," Paquette said.

Hey UCF, stay out of Ohio already. First you recruit a NE Ohio kid and now I see your gear and a local mall! I was at the Great Lakes Mall, about 25 miles east of Cleveland, and saw a guy with a UCF hat. Get out already... 03-wink

BTW, saw a lot of MAC school gear at the Lids store. Picked up a sweet Flashes logo hat for the new season. Besides that, no other real reason to go.

Less than three weeks to go!

Love Lids hats. Have one for GT myself. GT is actually one of their top sellings teams. Curious given the relatively small fan base Tech has.
You hardly see any UCF gear outside of the UCF campus in FL. That floors me that they sell that stuff up in OH.

Wow, you're good..........I just confirmation today about what you were alluding to.

And it wasn't who I thought. 03-wink

But I can assure you, we have not decided to leave and are really considering the MAC all sports thang.

Yet, as I've said before..........it's just rumor till the B.E. gets off thier ar$e and does something.

LET'S GO KNIGHTS and LET's GO MAC!!!!!

Thanks for Chad Breeden, tehe. He knew what he was doing when he spurned all of you for the warm weather in beautiful Orlando. He went from a 6-1, 180lb Ohio RB/S to a 6-1, 215lb Florida LB.
Well, UCF is probably thinking that the only chance for them to win a conf. championship would be in the Big East... The MAC is... and will be a force to be reckoned with... Of coarse, with the Toledo Rockets leading all the way.. 04-rock

I think that Chad might actually see a bit of time this year.
