Another interesting tidbit beyond the highest attended game would be the highest ever home attendance for the season. Ironically, for Miami that goes all the way back to the first year that Yager was built (well, half built if you will) in 1983. I don't have the stats handy but I think we averaged over 20K in 84, 85, and 86 as well.
MU averaged about 25.6K in a stadium that seated 25,183 that first year. First game against WMU (which WMU won on a last second FG to ruin the day for the MU faithful) drew 28K plus......I still have an overhead picture of the game taken by the Cincy Enquirer.
