Interview with UVA AD:
Reporter-Congradulations on your invite to the MAC. How do you see the new divisions shaping up.
UVA-UVA and Maryland will play in the MAC East with MiamiOH moving to the MAC West, probably.
Reporter-What made you decide to jump from the ACC as long time members to the MAC?
UVA-I can't speak for Maryland, but for UVA it was King Bob's scientific argument of how much better the MAC is than the ACC. And the thought of how much better the MAC would be if we joined. Clearly a win-win for UVA.
Reporter-The ACC has the highest team revenue payout of all Division 1-A, while the MAC the lowest. Explain what this does for UVA.
UVA-Nothing. Absolutley nothing. This is exactly why we are making the move.
Reporter-Will your fans respond to the MAC bowl arrangements?
UVA-Who needs the Orange Bowl, when you have the Motor City? Nothing more exciting then spending part of your christmas week in lifeless inner-city Detroit. The GMAC Bowl? Whether or not the MAC will be allowed to send a team to it is up to the materialistic whim of the bowl organizers. Its a great package.
Reporter-Are you worried about jealousy by other ACC members over your move to the MAC during your last pigskin ACC run this fall?
UVA-No. The response we've had around the leauge is "See ya, wouldn't want to be ya". Hard feelings are just not there. The ACC can't understand.
Reporter-What about the possible lawsuit by Miami and VT stating damages from you alleged promise a month ago to build a FB championship game with the ACC.
UVA-I don't think it will stand up in court of law. They won't lose their BCS status. We certainly will.
Reporter-How do you expect to contend for a National Championship without BCS status?
UVA-King Bob says if we are "contending" for a MAC championship, that is running through the MAC with at least a 7-1 record, we're feelin' it. I've got a Rocket in my Pocket thats Ready to Explode, Baby!!!
