to all HUSKIE fans, students, alumni, and players for a fantastic game last night. Unfortunately, I missed the first quarter because I was being chased at 100 mph+ by a Terp fan whose windshield got covered by what appeared to be "assorted pieces of chocolate?" :D
I got back to Madison (from Chicago) at about 7:30, so I saw the good stuff!

Now, the rest of America knows what MAC teams have to confront when we almost always have to play at the "big houses" with their officials. That doesn't mean that Mary's Land got jobbed, NIU earned that win, and deservedly so. FOX has got to dump those eighth-grade broacasting students, however. I turned to volume off. It was great to see a full house in De Kalb. Lee Owens at Akron must be searching the want ads this morning.

Tonight, GO ROCKETTS! I always liked John Robinson, but tonight, phuck 'em! He takes one in the ******!

Tomorrow, (speaking only for CMU), I hope we can keep it close for a half (my heart), but I think I smell a b-l-o-o-d-b-a-t-h. Good luck to everyone, and FC, send out little bags of corn to all MAC teams to pelt thier opposing fans with!!! 03-lol GREAT JOB, HUSKIES!!!

Amen, CE. Those guys were horrible. I told some friends they need to remove the terrapin ***** from its attachment to their tonsils. Just awful.
The sideline chick wasn't too bad. Change that blouse to a halter-top, and deep-throat the microphone a few times, and viewship automatically goes up!!! :D Her companion, however, looked like a dog pizzed in his hair. Those HUSKIES are good shots! :D
Are all those Terp fans saying they lost because of the missed interference call on the overtime touchdown? That was an awesome game Huskies!!!

Maryland is the highest-ranked opponent Northern Illinois has ever beaten. The Huskies defeated No. 20 Bowling Green last year, and knocked off No. 24 Fresno State in 1990.

This is the most meaningful win over a top 25 program for NIU ever. I think that the rest of the nation would have said they thought that BG and Fresno State were just pretenders when NIU bumped them (because they're in Non BCS confs). But with Maryland being in the ACC (BCS), it's a different kind of feeling. Great job.

PJ Fleck was very good. It was disappointing not to see Turner run for more yards. Are there questions surrounding NIU's O Line? They didn't seem to open big holes for Turner and Haldi seemed to be putting up with a constant pass rush. NIU gave up 5 sacks for 47 yards. But they did get the job done. Must be very disciplined. The entire team had only 5 penalties. NIU seized every opportunity they had and capitalized on it. I can't wait to see how good Toledo and BG are this year.

NIU's defense played very well. I don't seem to remember any talk about the quality of NIU's defense. 232 yards of total offense for the opponent. Does Maryland not know how to pass or is your coverage that good? Does NIU normally have a good passing performance? All I ever hear about is the Burner. So maybe it just overshadows the passing attack. Give Haldi and his receivers credit.

That game just didn't seem like a MAC game to me. 20-13? Is that how they do it in Dekalb? I thought we all agreed to score at least 70 combined points every game. Should be somewhere here in the MAC contract... hmm...

I'll stop rambling now. Great win.
The knock on the broadcaster's is fair enough, and the UMd fans are complaining of the homers we had broadcasting it (and believe me, these guys were NIU homers). But hey, when is a MAC school ever going to have a near national broadcast with homers calling it 04-rock

Maryland is the highest ranked opponent beaten, but the 1990 Fresno State win is the stuff of legend as the most lopsided beating a top 25 team has ever taken (70-6 I think, but someone should look it up).

You don't normally see this many pass plays by NIU, typically I've noticed we throw right around 25 a game, but when the run isn't there, we've got guys who can catch (UMd might want to explore this possibility).

And P.J. Fleck...now you all see why P.J. has a warm spot in every Huskie fan's heart. He's small, he's pure guts and he catches anything near him.

The O-line is still in the formative stage you see early in the season, if they're having this kind of game when conference time hits, that becomes an issue.

And defense...Knight fans should remember NIU defense that had UCF commit something like 7 turnovers on their trip to DeKalb a couple years back. I think UCF is still committing turnovers from that game.

Ok, this post-game high needs to wear off soon, but it's fun to be the lead story on SportsCenter with 2 of the 3 top plays of the night.
