Dave Dawson just had a 76 yd TD run. It's 21-10 now. At least UB is trying to make it respectable.

Alright! Go Bulls!

Once again, the UB QB play sounds abyssmal in this game. Come on Secky! At least the running game seems to be as good as advertised. Dawson and Leeper make a good combo.

Final: Rutgers 24, Buffalo 10 :(
The Bulls won the second half but couldn't overcome a big early deficit.

Well that sucks!! I really thought Buffalo would win this one.
Good luck against Iowa next week.

It's disappointing but not surprising. If UB doesn't get better QB play, it will be another horrible year. I still stick by my predictions made back on May 30 on this board.

This isn't meant as a slam, but you probably have 3 too many wins listed there.

I had the fortune (misfortune?) to be at work last night, so I listened to the entire game on the radio.
From what I heard, there are at least a few positives to come out of the game:
* The Bulls had over 200 yards rushing averaging over 5 yards per rush. With the improved O-line and the fleet of running backs, the running game should be strong all year.
* The first half wasn't as bad as the score. Rutgers went ahead 7-0 with a punt return that shouldn't have been. The first UB punt, which was fair caught, was called back because their "gunner" lined up offsides. On their next possession, UB had a 2nd & 5 from the Rutgers 9 only to be called back 15 yards for a questionable offensive inteference call. They came away with no points on the drive.
* In defense of Secky, the announcers said that he was under extreme heat the whole night, so in addition to a few drops, some of the incomplete passes were "smart" throwaways that last year would have resulted in a sack.
* In the pregame interviews, the players kept raving about the new strength and conditioning coach, and the announcers mentioned that UB seemed to be getting stronger as the game progressed. It looked like UB was the better team in the 2nd half, but couldn't overcome the 1st half mistakes.
On the other hand:
* If you are going to run an option attack, why not use the quarterback who is the stronger runner?
* Rutgers had over 400 yards of offense and a huge advantage in time of possession. How will the defense stop anybody who is actually good? Last year the defense couldn't contain Lehigh. Will they contain Colgate?
* The O-line must have spent so much time practicing run-blocking they forgot how to pass block.
* Rutgers missed a couple field goals- the score could have been worse. :crying:
Let's hope that a much improved UB team lost to a much improved Rutgers team. We won't know how bad a loss it was for a few more games.
