I've been doing this poll for all the Buckeyes I work with for the past few years. I thought I'd share it with you MAC folks. It's not really a poll since I'm the only one that gets to vote in it. I'll update it every week for you. Feel free to trash it. Everyone else does.

Needless to say, the weeks that I don't have OSU at #1 are priceless around the office.

And in case you were wondering, the Ohio Football Expert committee consists of one member.

1. Ohio State
2. Bowling Green
3. Cincinnati
4. Dayton
5. Miami
6. Toledo
7. Kent State
8. Youngstown State
9. Ohio
10. Akron

C'mon...we all know that Mt. Union deserves a spot more than KSU or Akron does, and definately more than OU!

Gee, it must suck knowing that your team can't beat the #6 team from Ohio.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Falcons move into the #1 spot next week.

How far do you suppose the Suckeyes will fall if they lose to BGSU?

Thank goodness there is no similiar committee for Illinois; I'm afraid most week's it would read

1. Western Illinois
2. Northern Illinois
3. Illinois
4. Southern Illinois
5. Northwestern

Although, I suppose we'd get the nod this week due to Western's loss at LSU.

Only division 1 teams are considered.

It's funny to Bob. Leave it at that.
How the hell is Dayton so far up there? Do they even have scholarships? I think the MAC East standings are much more interesting.

They're undefeated!

Dayton has a nice IAA program going..........years ago they were one of our best rivals, and we played them every year.

And although they are a very good IAA team, Stick, if Miami played them we'd probably be a 4 TD favorite.....maybe more.

I'll leave that to the philosophers.

Beat 'em. Then they won't be undefeated.

By the way, this poll gets REALLY fun during hoops season!

Dayton does not have scholarships, but competes at a Div IAA level. Their league (Pioneer league?) is all like that, and they do not compete in the Div IAA tournament.

I believe the Ivy League does the same thing, however there are not many (if any) games between Ivy and Patriot league members. I don't understand that.

Some have suggested referring to these non-scholarship teams as Div IAAA, but that's an unofficial label.

I believe Dayton was Div IAA b/c there was an NCAA mandate that fball and mens bball both be Div I (so many schools want a piece of march madness). Dayton moved fball up from Div III. To be honest, the difference between non-scholarship Div IAA and non-scholarship Div III, escapes me. Seems like semantics. Maybe Div IAA has enough lustre to recruit better players. But, I'm not sure if that mandate still exists.

Dayton beat up Div III Ohio Northern last weekend, but ONU has had much turmoil w/ their coach just being removed for NCAA violations. Dayton vs Mt Union would be interesting.
Sorry Stick, we don't play IAA schools. Never have, never will.

That's not Dayton's fault! 03-wink

Actually, there are quite a few inter-league matchups between the Ivies and the Patriot League teams.

Keep in mind that none of the Ivies have started their seasons yet. They all kick off on Saturday, after giving their players a couple of weeks to settle into fall semester classes.

To take a few examples, Harvard plays both Holy Cross and Lafayette this season. Holy Cross also plays Dartmouth and Yale. Colgate plays Dartmouth, Princeton, and Yale. And Penn plays Lehigh next weekend in what ought to be one heck of a game. I'd love to see ESPN2 pick that one up.
