Since we are on the topic of 2004 attendance...

Who will have the largest increase in numbers and in percentage?

My guess is that CMU will have the largest increase in terms of butts in seats and that EMU, KSU and UB will be close in increase percentage. Although having a 5K increase from 10K looks a lot better and is skewed compared to 5K increase from 20K...

I expect UCF will lead the way in absolute attendance increase. Kent probably in the percentage increase, if they can make it up to 10,000 for the season.
Central Michigan.

New coach and and winning attitude brings back the faithful in Mount Pleasant. My early pick for the turnaround program of the year.
Gotta go with UB on this one. Expect 31,000 for the home opener against 'Cuse right off the bat. Then only 4 other home games to draw. Factor in that the team is more experienced and should be better...easier cross over schedule...and the students are really into the school spirit thing after all the fun they had with basketball. I think they can muster 5 digit crowds for all the home games.
**If they get slaughtered in the first two games I'll probably change my mind!

If UB can get 31,000 for the opener and 10,000 for the rest of the season that would put the average at just under 15k for the season. That is attainable. The excitement from the UB-Syracuse game should carry over for the rest of the season, especially if you play Syracuse tough.
I expect CMU's attendence will increase by 4,000-5,000 (up to 30%), but that may not be the largest increase or even the largest percentage. The problem for CMU in this case is that the potential to draw isn't a lot more than 20,000 regardless of how well they do.

Toledo has the potential to draw more than 30,000 - which we don't. Based on last year's attendence - they can increase more than CMU can.

As a percentage - nobody can double easier than those drawing the lowest numbers - which isn't CMU.
MU football tickets ahead on sales

The Herald-Dispatch

HUNTINGTON -- Marshall University football season ticket sales are running ahead of last year’s pace.

More than 10,800 season tickets have been sold, director of ticketing Michael Carpenter said. At the same time last year sales were 9,500.

Marshall sold a total of 11,957 season tickets for the 2003 season.

"Our ticket caravans and Choose-A-Seat (promotions) have been very successful," Carpenter said. "Fans taking advantage of the great prices we have on Herdzone and Redzone tickets. These tickets offer an affordable way to see every home game this season for only $65 or $85."

Season ticket prices range from Chairbacks at $210 plus an additional $300 donation per seat to $65 for Herdzone seating.

The Thundering Herd ticket caravan makes its final stops today at Uno’s Pizzeria in Teays Valley from noon to 1:30 p.m. and at Nitro Dodge from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Head coach Bobby Pruett, selected players, ticket office staff and other athletic department representatives will attend the caravan.

The next Choose-A-Seat days are July 10 and Aug. 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

Priority ticket availability for the Sept. 11 game at Ohio State boosted preseason sales. The ticket office received about 6,600 priority orders for Ohio State.

"We were only issued 5,600 tickets, and of that allotment 600 tickets were designated for our students and marching band," Carpenter said. "This left us with 5,000 tickets available for distribution to those who pre-ordered by the priority deadline, and unfortunately we had to issue refunds for 1,600 tickets."

Ohio State ticket orders were filled by Big Green Priority Points for such things as stadium sky suite accounts, chairback season ticket holders, season ticket holders who are Big Green members and Big Green members who are not season ticket holders.

Based on the criteria orders were only filled in the first priority level -- sky suites, chairbacks and season ticket holders who are Big Green members.

Ohio State tickets will be mailed in mid-July, Carpenter said.

A limited number of priority tickets are available for the Sept. 18 game at Georgia.

"With Kansas State and a Conference USA home schedule in 2005, I highly recommend that fans join the Big Green and purchase 2004 season tickets now," Carpenter said.

The ticket office plans to mail season tickets the first week of August.
