I don't know what some UCF fans are saying to you on this board...but it's kind B.S.

The majority of fans want to go to CUSA. Just look at UCFSports.com. I am one them.

With all due respect to the MAC, we just don't belong. We have nothing in common with any of you. We'd rather be rivals with USF and Memphis, rather than Toledo and Miami (OH)....don't get me wrong..I think Miami and Toledo are tough as nails and better than UCF this year...but overall...our fans would welcome rivalries with USF and other southern based teams before the MAC teams.(exception Marshall). But Marshall will probably be following along with us.

Why CUSA?

Regionally more recognized teams. Better stadiums and facilities.

C-USA has five bowl ties (Liberty, GMAC, Fort Worth, Hawaii and New Orleans). The MAC has two (Motor City and GMAC).

Last season, Conference USA received $5.75 million in bowl payouts. The MAC received $2.6 million.

C-USA has 11 ESPN/ESPN2 home telecasts in football this season. The MAC has five.

C-USA is in the third season of an eight-year, $84 million deal for football and basketball with ESPN/ESPN2. The MAC starts a five-year, $3 million deal for the same next season.

Can't really argue with those numbers. So ....we gotsta go!

It's been nice knowing ya!

Try not to dominate them like you did us, okay? We're going to miss your superior talent.
CUSA members also paid over $5 million in conference "dues" to the league office to cover ticket guarantees, more or less exactly offsetting their bowl revenues.

And, of course, ESPN still will pay the full $84 million for a basketball contract that no longer includes Cincinnati or Louisville because Disney execs are too stupid to include a "change of membership" out that would allow them to renegotiate the contract. 03-lol

Rather than arrogate to myself the power to speak for most fans, I will speak only for myself when I say to you that I've always thought UCF was a bad fit FOR US, didn't appreciate your commitment to the "Midwestern Athletic Conference," and will enjoy Miami's share of your exit fee.

Please be careful not to let the door hit you in the ****** on the way out.

In my opinion the reason that Marshall has gone from being mentioned as one of the four, to being on the outside looking in, is that Marshall isn't going to leave the MAC for a diluted CUSA.

CUSA losing Louisville, Cincinnati, Depaul, Marquette, Charlotte, and maybe TCU is nothing more than a glorified Sun Belt.

Better yet, they can all merge back in with the Atlantic Sun Conference.

CUSA will be lucky to have one bowl, much less four after this shake up.

Unless the move is to the Big East, we ain't movin.

Geographically it is better for UCF in CUSA. For Marshall, without UC & UL, it is horrible geographically. We will never form rivalries with schools over 800 miles from our campus.
Heck, it has taken us seven years to rekindle some rivalries from 200 miles away, and that took some excellent football games to attain.

I like what CUSA can be after this shakeup.
USF, UCF, ECU, USM, TCU and Memphis form a pretty decent core. UAB is right in there and so is Tulane. But SMU & Rice? CUSA would be better off with Troy State and Middle Tennessee IMO. Or Louisiana Tech.

I'd take the MAC over that every day of the week, and twice on Sundays.
The bowl numbers will change soon. Which might favor CUSA, since they lose money on many of their bowls.

The TV rights will change dramatically too. You can't lose Cincy, L'ville and big market DePaul, and expect to get the same revenue.

UAB and Tulane's stability are still in question, as is the membership of TCU and the existence of the entire conference.

The grass doesn't look quite as green from up north.

That being said, UCF in CUSA makes sense. Best of luck to you, but you could be a bit more gracious. CUSA snubbed UCF big time. The MAC gave you a break, and the benefits to UCF are now more clear than ever.
Why all the hostility? UCF is very gracious for the MAC. We wouldn't be in any situation without help from the MAC and allowing us in their conference.

But regionally...if you guys lived down in Orlando...most UCF fans still couldn't tell you who Northern Illinois was before a few weeks ago...and people still don't know. The MAC has little interest down here. Why? No regional recognition. It shows down here. Last year before the Toledo game...most fans were asking...WHO THE HELL IS TOLEDO? Of course...these aren't fans like me and other UCFers on the message boards. But the casual fan down here is only aware of UF, FSU, Miami, USF and teams in the surrounding states.

I respect the MAC and always have. It's a tough conference...but that has nothing to do with it. We'd just rather be traveling to New Orleans or Hattisburg in November rather than Ohio, Michigan, Illinois or Up-State NY!! WE ARE IN FLORIDA!!

Sorry...but it's true. It's not outta disrespect...it's outta being able to drive an hour to a game rather than 13.

And don't let the Marshall fans fool you..they've been crying to get out of the MAC for years.

I would hate the day UCF has to play in the SNOW! Blech! WE DON'T BELONG IN SNOW!!

Soo..

Why all the hostility?

Maybe because it took y'all approximately 3.6 seconds to start gloating?

Maybe because it's clear y'all never really wanted to be here in the first place (and were added over the objections of many of us)?

Maybe because you act like we owe you a gold watch and a pat on the back when you haven't even been here long enough to qualify for the 401(k) plan?

Any of this ringing a bell? Probably not.

(BTW, I'm not even close to hostile yet. Others can vouch for me on this point.)
I have nothing more to add when it comes to this CUSA non-sense.... but HELLO... MEMPHIS AND ECU ARE PUTTING FEELERS OUT TO OTHER CONFERENCES!!! THAT IS NOT A GOOD SIGN!

What he said....

AND

Don't let the door hit ya on the way out.... 03-razz
Actually, I never did understand why they added UCF to the MAC... but once again, Chryst has added another second rate football team that is over rated with dreams of granduer... If UCF dropped out... I say let's send an invite to Ohio st or Michigan... give them a chance to get out of their losing conference... I wouldn't wanna be in Conf. USA... they just out and out suck!!!
Great timing for our guys.......we got to go to Mickeyland twice in their 3 year sogiern..............

See ya!

Don't try to change the subject.
You came to gloat, and you were met with something different than the reach around you were expecting.

Losing UCF from the MAC does nothing to the conference that losing Buffalo wouldn't do. Except Buffalo at least know the name of the conference.

Does Marshall want to leave the MAC? Probably. But only for something better. And, in my opinion, that is the Big Ten (never happen), SEC (pardon me while I fall over with laughter), ACC (yeah, that'll happen), Big XII (Baylor may be nervous about this one), PAC-10 (about as likely as Iraq joining the Sun Belt Conference) or Big East (which really isn't all that likely)

Given a choice between the MAC and CUSA, it is the MAC all the way.

Have fun at the Tangerine Bowl next year. I'm sure that your players will enjoy serving drinks to all the fans of the other two schools playing.
With the step down to CUSA y'all might be able to win something. It'll help build up your confidence. You come back when you are ready to play with the big boys.
Did you guys watch ESPN last night? I was at da bar and they kept running the tape of Marshall, Toledo and NIU over again of each team scoring... couldn't hear what they were saying and I didn't like the fact that they had marshall first... but, irregardless... the MAC is getting play... what is funny is that Miami, OH has been lost in the shuffle and they are just as good or better than Marshal...

the MAC is taking off... and there isn't any talk about conf. USA... I would rather be a MACster!!!

KingBob, they said:

"Toledo, Marshall, and NIU are the top dogs in the MAC. UCF......are you kidding my Trev? Umm, UCF is leaving the MAC for C-USA according to a rumor. Well Trev and Chris, the real reason they are leaving is because their highlight real was so bad we couldn't find it in us to show them trying to play football!"

That comment tells me two things:

1) UCF fans don't know sh!t about college football, and
2) They have short memories, quickly forgetting the 40-20 loss we hung on your a$$ a couple years ago.

At least other MAC teams can look past their own sheer brilliance to remember history.
Wow...don't know what the thought process is of some of my fellow UCF fans at times...

Surpising posts from Goldenbuc who is one of the better posters on the UCFSports MB, not sure why he feels the need to trash MAC football. Especially when we still are in the MAC and haven't been officially invited anywhere!

As for me, I am a UCF fan who is VERY excited about possibly moving to C-USA and that is because-

1) I think it will REALLY help our basketball program- I mean we play in the freakin ASUN
2) I think it will boost attendance in BB and FB because better name recognition down in Orlando
3) I love the idea of being in the same conference of USF. College is all about rivals and we hate USF!
4) I will likely travel to most of the conference road games now- so more ROADTRIPS!!! :)
5) The bottom C-USA teams are still not too bad and draw pretty well in attendance

But at the same time I understand this-

1) C-USA is likely to lose 1 or 2 bowl games
2) C-USA is not as good as the MAC in football the past few years, especially this year
3) C-USA is losing its best FB team and 2 best basketball teams
4) The MAC should and BETTER pick up more bowl games and more TV exposure
5) The MAC hooked us up when no one else would and has been GREAT to us

Although there is still time left- we didn't quite do what I hoped we would have to help increase respect for MAC FB, luckily we didn't have to because NIU, BGSU, Miami, Toledo, and Marshall took care of that one. I still hope we will turn around this season and maybe even beat WVU to show we belong at the top of the MAC. :D

No  from this UCF fan....instead I say 04-rock on MAC with or without UCF.
Hey Goldenbuc--with respect to a brother Knight--I looked at UCFsports.com and didn't see anywhere where a majority of fans want to go to C-USA. Are you referring to a message board somewhere?

Ni
Dude...just about every post on there says it likes the idea of moving to CUSA.

And to ADD!!

I never ONCE said anything negative regarding the MAC. In fact...I have defended the MAC ever since our inception. And always will!!

You guys need to give us a break. The ONLY reasons for us like CUSA better is geography.

I have never put down any MAC schools (I've given football smack to a Marshall fan or two) but as you have seen....I'll be the first one to congrat a fellow MAC school on a good win!

The only reason I like CUSA rather than the MAC is regionality. That's it! We are in Florida and to us...Cold Sucks!! I hate the north! I don't want to travel there or want my team to play there.

As far as the conference goes.....I love the MAC! But want my team to play closer to home. Is that so weird?!!

And Marshall fans...quiet...at least we have a reason to leave the MAC that makes sense...all you bastard say is the MAC sucks. Give it a rest!
