This from a post on the BSUfans message board on this week's game vs. UT:
Quote:OK, guys - here is the story.

Bubba has sent me a block of 50 tickets for our Loud and Proud section.

We will be sitting in Section A, Rows 9 through 14 on West Side of that huge stadium.

We can walk in to pee - using our regular tickets. Walk out and then walk back in using our comps from Bubba. Both entrances will count toward the attendance.

Dang, I wished we had thought of that! Just pass out a bunch of tickets and have the same people keep coming in and out using a new ticket each time.
03-lol
Guess we take those BSU numbers with a huge shaker of salt.
That was a joke, doofus.

If anyone cares to *prove* that our attendance numbers are anything less than what we report, feel free. Until then, back off.
It wasn't a joke at all--it was a continuing thread about recruiting people to take one of these tickets and use it to go in and out of the stadium and get counted twice.

That said, I don't care how you count attendance--we've got our own problems--and if you are fudging your numbers, I'm sure it's being done in a way that would be very hard for an outsider to *prove* anyway. Besides, attendance numbers don't count for anything this year anyway.
I just thought it was pretty funny. 03-lol

I did that at a Marshall game once. It was Bobby Pruett bobblehead night at the Miami game last year. I had two extra tickets. I went in and out twice to get the extra bobblehead. I made my wife do the same. So attendance for that game was inflated by two!

I know what you're thinking. She sure is a lucky woman!

What I'm interested in finding out is how the NCAA is going to regulate attendance counts, once they make it a prerequisite for staying in Div. 1A? Are they going to let the foxes be in charge of the henhouse, like they usually do?
I know they say "butts in seats" but they don't mean that--there is no one counting how many different people are actually in the stadium. They are using a ticket count, which can be subject, as noted above, to all sorts of irregularities. If you count tickets sold, it would be easy for Universities to find corporate sponsors to buy up large quantities of discounted tickets to make the 15k limit.
Of course, I fail to see any connection between the the amount of people watching a game and the quality of the play on the field. And why is this good for football, but doesn't apply to any other sports? It is completely irrelevant--if a school commits its resources to D1A, what difference does it make if they make or lose money on it? Then why isn't the profit/loss for each program taken into account?
I kinda did it once for a basketball game. My Girlfriend (at that time, she's now my wife) and my brother went to the last Michigan game at university arena. I got my ticket (as a student) went in and realized that we could not get a group of seats like we usually did (usually just my girl and I). Then I went out to find them and try to exhange my ticket and the university would not let me, so I bought another ticket. Then one was seat one and the other two were on the other end of the row behind it. Fortunately, the guy behind us had the same problem.
By the way Papa Lou, here is another recent post in the same thread.
Seems like it is a joke, but not in the way you mean.
It also seems like your attendance numbers are phony, as your own fans here attest. Don't see any other way to interpret this--if there is, please inform. It's obviously not some tongue in cheek put-on.

Quote:I will be there to join you along with my 7 and 10 year old sons and my wife. We will see if we can get someone else to use our normal seats for the game. If not we will just turn them in as you suggested to get the attendance numbers up. Thanks for coordinating this!
All you have to do is sell beer cheap in the stadium and watch the freak'n attendance soar... that is the problem with a lot of college stadiums... fortuneatly at UT all you have to do is put beer in a big plastic cup and no one cares!!!

Bulls#1t. Beer is not allowed in the Glass Bowl.
In defense of Bob, at the Pitt game I did see a chick with a cup of beer.
Boys... I have been to every game so far this year... and I have walked in with my JUMBO cup of beer... walked out at halftime, then walked right back in after filling up... you can't have a can of beer or any of that, but I walked right past the copper... didn't say a word!!!
Again, offer some proof, axeme as to why two message board posts (one in jest, I know the poster personally) should be extrapolated to assume that we're inflating our attendance numbers.

You obviously have no ******ing clue what you're talking about, and I won't even go into the irony of a Kent fan bagging on someone else's attendance.

If the chick meets certain hotness criteria, she's allowed to bring in whatever she wants!! :D
Huskie Dan... yeah, the same is true for men... why do you think I was allowed to bring the beer in...

Anyway, it is what I have always said, these rules made by these jerk presidents who are more concerned about "image" as ooposed to reality should alow alcohol into the stadium... I'll bet KSU will do just that if they need to increase attendance... drunken sex sells!!!
Touchy!

Explain the thread then. We can all read. And why would it matter whether you know the guy personally or not?

If you'd read my earlier post, I explained clearly my attitude about attendance.

I care not a damn about your attendance; whether you have 200 or 20,000 is about as completely irrelevant as it can be to anyone but BSU fans, apparently, but it sure sounds like we've hit a sensitive spot.

Just don't expect anyone to believe your attendance figures this weekend, as if anyone cares anyway.
Yeah, because a couple of people used extra tickets to get in. That's rational.

My team just got drilled by 46 points by their arch-rival on Saturday. My university just had a couple of members of the Board of Trustees stage a successful coup and force out a president that was well-liked by the faculty, staff, administration, students and alumni. And I'm dealing with a meningitis outbreak in my neighborhood here at home.

I'm in no mood for this sort of petty, superficial nonsense today. If you want to act like an idiot over one stupid message board thread, that's your problem.
Papa, you know I love you like a brother, but superficial or no, you are vastly overreacting to one of the truly good-guy posters in MAC-land.

Go vent your spleen on the trustees. It might do some good, and, unlike our favorite UCLA prof, they've earned it.

That's right! If you are only averaging 18K for the year than you can't be fudging the numbers, can you?
Precisely.

Why would we only list attendance of 17,300+ for the Missouri game if that wasn't the actual freakin' attendance???
Axeme: I didn't see the winky on the post thread until right now. My apologies if you were just havin' some fun...

Bad week.... bad week.
