Full Version: Miami Ohio is getting the shaft!

Why is it that Miami Ohio fans aren't screaming about their lack of respect?
Is it because you accept not being recognized?
Have you grown this complacent?

You have a "GREAT" football program and it's time somebody in Oxford has the balls to take a stand, yet we hear NOTHING.

Do you even care?

You have lost one game. To Iowa, in the season opener.
The same Iowa who beat Michigan and almost took out the big boys down the road.

Come on guys, make some noise. YOU ARE BETTER THAN THIS.
While I agree it's a bit of a joke, I think most of us fans let the football team makes its own noise on the field. 04-drinky The rankings have always been a joke, so no use crying over it too much now. Just keep winning.

It would be nice to get ranked and more exposure, but it's good to be the silent, strong type for now too. If things keep up and we are lucky enough to keep winning through the MUg game, then there is no way we can't be high in the rankings. There is a long way to go, and a rough stretch coming up, but I'm still dreaming about Miami vs. NIU in MACC. Now that would be a great game. 04-rock

Do I care...?? Hell, yes I care, and I believe quite a number of Miami fans care.

However, I am accutely aware of just how the polls react to MAC (and non-BCS schools in general). My view is that Miami will be able to crack the top 25 if the following events occur:

Beat Kent
Beat BG (maybe make the top 25 in one of the polls if this happens)
Beat Marshall (should, and I stress should, be in the top 25 polls)

The BG and Marshall games are gonna be fiery contests. Miami and BG have always enjoyed a great rivalry, pumpkin smashing and all. Miami and Marshall... well we all know the recent history on that annual match-up. Kent, I'm sure they'd love to knock off the current East division leader.

Miami had a great run after the Iowa game, with some decent national exposure beating OOC Northwestern, Colorado State, and sUCks. I believe the pollsters lose interest once MAC conference play begins, and it's going to take both national broadcast games before the pollsters are going to take notice again.

Does that piss me off? Sure it does!

However, as MM said above:

"...let the football team makes its own noise on the field."

Beat KENT!!!
Miami is a tough to team to read this year. They beat a good CSU team on the road, but looked unimpressive against Iowa. The Nov 04 game against the mighty Falcons will indeed be HUGE.

FWIW, I think there are three exceptional squads in the MAC (NIU, BG and Miami). I think UT and Marshall are close to that quality and capable of beating any of the top three with a few of the right breaks
Dallas, not sure what you would have us do other than to b!tch about it here and elsewhere. We probably should be ranked, but if we beat kent next week and then beat BG, we'll be ranked by then.
If you go 10-2 and no bowl, don't hate "The Herd".
While that means a post season game for every other conference. It means basketball season for most schools in the MAC.

And I'm sorry your players did do all they could do (on the field).

They all know 10-2 means Mobile, Hawaii, New Orleans or Fort Worth in CUSA.

I for one know you are better than that.
Flipper, I'm not sure it was as much as we looked "unimpressive" vs. Iowa as much as our QB made 3 or 4 very bad throws, all resulting in critical INT's. If you look at what Iowa's defense has done to most teams (including Ohio State), you'd see that Miami ran up a lot of yards and 1st downs against the Hawkeyes. Since that game Miami has averaged nigh 45 points a game in crushing (except for UC with 2 somewhat meaningless TD's the last 4 minutes) every opponent.
Dallas, if I were a betting man (and I'm not really), I'd say that a 10-2 Miami team this year would have an excellent possibility of being in a bowl game.
I would suspect 10-2 would get us to the MACC, and one of the 2 bowl bids. The most likely loss in that scenario is BGSU, not Marshall, so we would still take the East. The winner of BGSU/NIU would take the West and the other slot. I know there are no guarantees that way, but it is the most probable with us 10-2.

That being said, there's a lot of football left. One game at a time. Go Miami! Beat Kent! 04-rock
Prodesse quam conspici.

It's been that way since 1809. We'll leave the chest-thumping to our CUSA brethren.
YO!!! NIU at the GlassBowl...

It is hard to believe all y'all are forgetting the Rockets.. Hellooooo!!!! Dont EVER count us out 05-nono

we messed up against Syracuse but have come out swinging since!!! Our D is starting to gell and our offense is also starting to kick into gear... don't forget... NIU was losing to central 17-0 at one time...

No one's forgetting you. You see, we don't revel in winning one game, ala UT against Pitt. We look forward to winning each and every game, thereby concentrating on the upcoming opponent, unlike UT vs. Syracuse.

Glass Bowl?? We'll be there. After we take care of business. 04-rock
I was just trying to help you smelly dogs out... I don't want you to get your hopes so far up that it will be devistating to you when you are sitting home in december

You're drunk brain is trying to help me out??

May I remind you of UNLV and Syracuse?? Take care of your business, and we'll take care of ours.

I'd hate to think that my Huskies are looking for advice from the UT team that showed up against BC last December....
Well, our inexperience did shine through at UNLV and we just didn't prepare for the Syracuse... but, you can better believe we aint gonna let no smelly dogs come into our house and beat us.... (pssst.... yeah, don't listen to those rockets... I wouldn't want any of you to learn anything about football!!!)

So ***** about it. Write letters to the pollsters...write letters to the Miami (OH) newspaper, cajole students to get to the stands...write letters to the Enquirer and Col. Dispatch, cajole alumni to get to the stands.

Call talk radio shows.

What can it hurt?

Assuming you don't win the MAC, your dignified response in 1998 showed how futile the "strong silent" approach really is. I'd embrace beloved alumnus Brian Pillman's approach and employ some WWF attitude.
Miami is only averaging close to 24,000 fans a game... thats terrible... pathetic.... we should be selling every game out! 03-banghead :chair: 04-drinky 04-drinky 04-drinky 04-drinky 04-drinky 04-drinky
How are you supposed to draw a crowd when all you do is play those weak MAC schools...

The reconfigured Yager seats 25,183. Attendance is up over 5,000 a game over last year. What the hell are you complaining about?
