Tell you one thing, as much as UT and BG hate each other, I have never had a problem with a bugs fan while attending a game. They conduct themselves with class; I expect this week will be the same.

Now, if NIU really treats visitors like the Blah says, I would not be proud of it. Considering the source, it probably is inaccurate.

I'm not. It's disgusting the way they treated those people last year.

I'm also not proud of knuckleheads who come on message boards and talk smack which is likely to get me and other sensible, law-abiding NIU fans harrassed or attacked.
We're a VERY laid back bunch. I don't think you'll have any problems, particularly on the East side of the Doyt since the students are on the West.
Some of our fans have a bad habit of crossing the line. Throwing things crosses the line, abusing fans of the opposing team crosses the line.

On the other side of the coin, our fans do get some things right, by creating the raucus wild environment the Falcon players were talking about.

This week and Toledo I expect to be the wildest opposing crowds our guys have seen.
My complaint about BG students has always been that they are just too....nice ! Yech.
For college students, they're just too happy. They need more
Sturm und Drang. More phony back all-black clothing angst.

I do have one caveat, you may be hit by small tootsie rolls. Parents of players toss them by the handful after BG scores. It's some kind of tradition...

Hopefully, you get hit a lot 03-razz
For the record, after the BG game last year, the oppositions' ticket allocation was moved from the East side (general admission, where our students are) to the West side (assigned seating, much more mellow (sleepy?) alumni).

They threw those last year. I have no problem with Tootsie Rolls (although I hope they have no reason to throw em on Saturday 03-wink ) . Tootsie rolls, no problem. Bottles and batteries, problem.

Oh man -

Back in the 0-23 days, we used to throw marshmellows, bouncy balls and my favorite, dog bones. There used to be so much room you could run down from your seats and harass the opposing team - I remember taunting Vanderbilt with "You're losing to the worst team in college football".

Ah the good ol days. Course I wouldn't trade them for what we have now...........
0-23 is a tough run, but for God's sake, we lost to Buffalo!

BG fans are, for the most part, very hospitable to visitors. The one exception is that there always seems to be a group of students (I assume) who walk around right outside the stadium during games informing visitors that they suck. They don't seem very bright, nor are they partiularly intimidating, but some middle-aged Missouri fans that I was talking with last year were pretty offended by some of the language hurled at them. It's too bad, too...as they probably would have left with a positive impression of BG otherwise.
Then there is the fact that they wear those hideous orange shirts...you forgot about that 03-wink

I said they were hospitable, not fashion conscious. :D

Actually, I think those are pretty cool. They remind me of the Dutch national team jerseys. :D

Every time I drive down 75, there is always this hideous oder coming from this dirt parking lot with what looks to be one of those crumbling stadiums they have in Rome... :chair:
This comes from a rocket fan, who's stadium has been affectionately named the Toilet bowl!!! I wonder which stinks more?

I can't believe it's taken this long for someone to make that joke. 03-lol

Hey, corn is more than just a vegetable. It's a way of life.

I suspect that's why it's one of your school colors. 03-razz

Still mad because mommy wouldn't let you leave the 'burbs and come into town, pookie?

Toledo's stadium is the best in the conference, bar none. If you weren't afraid of the "kind of people' who live in the city, you could actually go and see for yourself.
