Marshall will begin play in CUAS in 2005. We will pay a $1,000,000 CUSA entry fee and $400,000 MAC exit fee. At least we get the good 2004 MAC home schedule out of the deal. Miami and UCF will be coming to Huntington to round out our MAC play. Very mixed emotions right now.
Are you sure we're still coming to Huntington?
What's good about UCF at home? They don't bring anyone on the road to MAC schools.

If I were Chryst, Marshall would be travelling to Toledo next season and playing EMU at home. I'd also stack the schedule with tough East games and make Marshall inelligible for the MACC.

As for leaving, very stupid move....but good luck to you!

If we're not contractually obligated, I don't see why we'd do that.

I'd rather go ahead and play some of our "old" rivalry games -- WMU or Toledo.

The schedule tweaking I'm sure can and will be done. However, as far as championship eligibility, I'm sure Marshall's position would be that an exit fee is not necessary if they are kicked out of the league.

Marshall will not be operating from a position of power with the MAC in any way. Their "position" will be of little concern.
Dodo,
As far as coming to Huntington goes it will be part of your rotation within the MAC. I wouldnt think the confernce schedule would be changed. Next year our home schedule will be Miami, UCF, Buffalo, and our west opponent. We will travel to Akron, Kent, Ohio, and a west opponent (hopefully Toledo).

Making Marshall ineligible for the MACC wouldnt make them ineligible for the GMAC bowl. The bowl makes the choice of teams, not the conference. Of course without knowing how the contract is written, noone can say for a certainty how that would work. But if the conference were to attempt to do something like this, Marshall should consider leaving immediately and play an independent 2004 schedule. It would be better to play 7 or 8 road games than to allow the MAC to treat us unjustly.

God.

We've got two ranked teams playing for the first time in 30 years.

We've got a sell out in Bowling Green for the first time in 20 years.

We've got Gameday coming to town for the first time ever.

Marshall is deep down in the MAC standings.

This is our day in the sun. OURS!

Yet all any one at ESPN will be talking Saturday when they get away from the immediate MAC game at hand will be Marshall Marshall Marshall.

It's always Marshall Marshall Marshall.

God. Even when Marshall football sucks, it *still* manages to tick me off.

Wasn't there something in the NCAA ruling about Marshall Reynolds' disassociating himself from Marshall?

And the MAC schedules aren't set until sometime in late Spring early Summer, so you guys don't know WHO will be coming to your house until Chryst sends out the invitations.
To he11 with this pathetic conference and it's unappreciative, badmouthing, jealous fans.

To he11 with fans that don't care about their own programs yet go the extra mile to say bad things about their champion.

To he11 with fans that can't bring more than 100 people to a game that is within a few hours drive of campus.

You hated us from day one, even when we forced you to be better. You never treated us with any measure of respect. We were never welcome.

And yet some of you came to our doorstep begging us to stay -

May you fall back into the swill of mediocrity from whence you came, and may you wilt away in the MAC forever.

Amen.

oh pulease. You get kicked out for cheating and are lucky enough to get invited back only to ***** about how pathetic the conference is? The problem was that the fans never expressed an "attitude of gratitude".

Have fun playing in 90 heat in October.
You cheated from day one. You were disrespectful to the rest of the conference from day one. You contiunue to overstate your influence and importance.

Have fun in CUSA, I'm not at all sorry to see you leave...
As I said before, good bye and good riddance... and take your NCAA investigators with you, please.

Hopefully what I'm hearing is true: Marshall will be ineligible for any MAC championships or bowl bids until their departure.

They have the power of $400,000. They won't be ineligible for any titles or bowl games as long as they follow the exit guidelines in the contract.
