Full Version: Miami is still getting the shaft.

It blows my mind that you are not in the Top 25 in either major poll.
My thoughts are that you should be about number 15.

NIU and BG both have great teams, but so do you.
I know, if you beat BG, you will be in.
ARE YOU SURE?

Miami is not a one year wonder.
You are consistently winning football games.

If for some reason both USF and UCF get BE invites, you need to be ready.
You would be a perfect fit into CUSA and finally receive your due.

Is Louisville better than you?
They are #25 in the ESPN poll this week.
If The Herd had only one loss to a BCS school, don't you think we would be rated?
It does suck because the upcoming BG/Miami(OH) game would be another game between ranked teams!

Still, the MAC coaches have some control over this.
Do you think the MAC coaches are not voting for you?
Not only is Miami not ranked, they are more than doubled up in points by the 26th ranked team, Ole Miss--129-60. Also behind pathetic Wisconsin who would get drilled by the Hawks and Boise State.
I agree that Miami is the best team in the conference, though we will find out in about a week and a half if BG can capitalize on yesterday's amazing performance and be the conference's flagship team this year or whether they won't.
I know we got shafted in the new Coach's poll (#29), but where did we end up in the new AP poll??? 26th??

There'll be another poll out before we play BG, so we could "back into" the rankings before that game depending on how other teams do next Saturday. Obviously it'd be great to have back-to-back national TV games of 2 MAC ranked teams!

I think the MAC coaches are voting correctly, and most of the other coaches (BCS and non-BCS) are voting the MAC teams too low. They joined the bandwagon with NIU, and I think they were correct on that. Now they can't ignore BG, but as long as Miami stays on the outside no one other than Miami and MAC fans will complain too loudly. Sad, but true.

Because the other coaches are voting MAC teams too low, the MAC coaches should rate them higher than necessary. After all, if other coaches are rating MAC teams too low, then they are ranking their conference mates too high. It's a balance. You'll only get respect from others, when you respect yourself.
I agree that other coaches are ranking MAC teams too low. I was just saying that MAC coaches are probably being ethical. It was more a response to the (hypothetical) question about MAC coaches not voting for us at all. I certainly don't believe that is true.
If we beat Bowling Green, we will be ranked. If we don't beat Bowling Green, we don't deserve to be ranked. November 4th will settle things.
au contraire, extinct bird - things will be settled 8 days later when the green & white pays a visit to Yeagar........consider the BG game a tune up for the main event!!

Go HERD!!!! 03-lol

Amazing that you can spell "contraire", but you get "Yager" wrong. It's named after someone from Miami, not the famous Yaeger from Marshall.

While the Marshall game will likely determine the East division, the BG game will determine whether Miami is ranked. A Miami win on Nov 4 should get them ranked, although admittedly a loss to Marshall will knock them back out. A loss to BG and the Marshall result is meaningless to rankings. In either case on Nov 12, Miami would be unranked.
Although all Miamians are aware that the Herd game is for "all the marbles", I have always enjoyed our rivalry with BUGs, and anticipate a great game. Having the game on the Tuesday night makes it really tough on attendance, but unless the weather is really crappy I look for the MU students to be out in force, and more than a few BG faithful in attendance as well.

Hopefullly BUGs will come over to the East after the Herd leave, insuring that we'll play every year again!
If our Dline isn't able to pressure Benny-boy, we're going to be in for as long night. Our secondary is probably the best in the MAC, but even we can be picked apart by a very talented QB if he gets enough time to sit back and read the coverages.

I think we're going to run it at you early. Then again, I thought we might do that against NIU and J5 had 180 yrds passing in the first qtr...

At any rate, this first leg of the 2003 MU/BGSU home and home series will give both teams a chance to show the country how exciting MAC football has become. 04-rock
