I don't want to jinx anything, but I was curious. So I took a poll at ay-ziggy-zoomba.com

The question: In the event that Bowling Green gets lucky and wins an invitation to a bowl game, where would you rather play: Detroit or Mobile?

The poll is now 19-2 in favor of Detroit over Mobile.

I post this for two reasons:

1. I want Marshall fans to see it, as the question of geography has been an undertone to a lot of our chatter lately and they really seem to hate the idea of playing in Detroit.

2. I'm curious if other MAC fans feel the same way.

The poll:

Definitely, Detroit. Prolly be the West winner going to Detroit and the East winner going to Mobile.
Depends on the competition, if its A BCS school compared to a CUSA school, then you definitlely have to pick the BCS competition. And the Motor City Bowl will be better for the fan base, because not too many people can pick up on a weekday in December and go to Alabama. So I would say MCB. Not that BG is going to make it anyway

Two Words for all you Rockette Fans:

From a personal standpoint in my situation, I could swap some vacation days at work and make it to Mobile, as well as afford the cost (My first Bronco bowl game = Money is no object).

That said, it's definitely a give and take as each have their "pros". One is 25 miles from my home, convenient, and promises tens of thousands of fellow Bronco fans in a prime recruiting area. The other brings a warm vacation into the mix, in a city that generally promotes the game far better as the town's main annual event.

So, for me it's a toss-up.

I would just be happy if we could go to a bowl game anywhere at this point, even if it is in Alaska in the dead of winter. Seriously, as Motown Bronco said they both have have their pluses. Knowing my financial situation, I would go with Detroit.
I'm trying to figure out why folks would rather go to a place that doesn't really want you there and where the wind chill is -70 over a place where they throw a huge party for you all week long and the temps are in the +70 range.

Or, look at it this way. Drive up, go to game, leave vs. drive down, party for a few days, 04-drinky get some sun, B) oggle girls in bikinis, :tasha: eat fresh seafood till you're ready to explode, :micro: go to a mardi gras parade, :bighat: have a party on the riverfront, 04-drinky go to game, 04-rock party all night, 04-cheers lay around beach a couple of more days oggling girls in bikinis, :girl: drive home. Detroit in December sounds like so much more fun now that I think of it.

And hey, I found a reason to use about 1/2 of the emoticons in one post. 03-lol

If Marshall is one of the teams involved in the game, this is a good one to add. :cop:

Marshall won't be involved.
Any bowl, any place, any time. I'm going.

Even if it's Houston, Flipper. 03-wink
I prefer the Sugar.

Bring back some St. Arnolds for the rest of us if you go.

I tried to find one for Detroit in December but they don't have one for frostbitten extremities so I guess this will have to do:

I thought I saw a post on Hawktalk that said the Mobile Bowl was during Miami's final exams for the semester .......ouch!
I would probaly prefer Mobile myself as it's easier for me to take a trip there than go to Detroit right in the middle of the holidays which we usually spend visiting multiple family members in southern/eastern Ohio.

But, either bowl is fine with me! :D
Here are my picks .........

Liberty
GMAC
Hawaii
Fort Worth
New Orleans

04-bow 04-bow 04-bow 04-bow 04-bow 04-bow
motor city.

even though iam a UT fan, I will still go to Ford Field no matter what MAC team is playing. If not UT, I would prefer BG
One other point.......if the B10 only gets one team into the BCS, we'll likely see an 8-4 type Minnesota or Wisconsin in the MCB this year........pretty durn good competition. OTOH, if the B10 qualify 2, and NU wins 2 of its last 4 games (to go 6-6), we could be looking at a terrible match-up against Northwestern, a team Miami creamed already.
To be honest, I'd like the MAC to pass on CUSA and Mobile for a shot at Boise St, even if it is in their home stadium. There is some arrangement for that, although it's not the MAC's decision.

Miami (OH) vs Boise St, w/ those 2 QB's names! 03-lol perfect.

Anyway, BG in Detroit makes the most sense, and should keep the high attendance figures there. Although, I'd prefer to see them in Tempe.

As for the Big 10 in the MCB...hope it's not N'western. That would be bad for morale. Wisconsin would be good...Minnesota wouldn't draw that well. If Michigan folds again (losses to MSU and tOAMU aren't unreasonable) how about another shot against the Wolverines?! That would be excellent.
