What about Temple? What about Army or Navy? Will the MAC add a few new teams to the mix? I see a few teams failing to make the new attendence requirements.
If there were quality teams out there, we might, however there are no real viable options. Temple would probably not be willing to bring all their sports to the MAC, especially now that the A-10 may get St. Louis which will bring even more money into that conference.

When CUSA falls apart, though, I imagine we will add Memphis and ECU.
I would really like to add Western Kentucky and Temple to all sports. I would also lose EMU and either Kent State or Akron. I would personally like to keep Kent State because they have been in the MAC so long and are very good at Basketball.

Mac West- NIU, Toledo, BSU, WMU, CMU and WKU

Mac East- BG, Miami(OH), Temple, Buffalo, Ohio and Kent State or Akron

This would be a very competitive football and basketball conference.
I'd like to see Temple. The MAC has been deserving of more than 1 NCAA bid for many years. Adding Temple may push the committee in that direction...and it won't always be the Owls w/ the 2nd bid. It may even spark 3 bids.

I can't imagine Temple leaving the Atlantic 10.
Since they're 1-AA, it may not be an option...but Western Illinois may be a good hop to 1-A. My mom graduated from there before we moved to Florida, and they seem to have a dominant team every year and always make it to the final 4 in the playoff. I don't know about their other sports, but it seems like if they get a couple years of D-1 under their belt, they may be able to make some noise.

My dad graduated from University of Illinois. My mom enjoys poking fun at him for her school having a better team :)

Good 1aa program that really has our number lately, but the WIU formula will not work in 1A. They take a lot of 1A transfers that even only have one year of eligibility remaining. They are a safe haven for players that think they have potential, but are playing behind guys at bigger programs. They could not recruit at the 1A level successfully. The location is also an issue from an attendance angle.
I'd just as soon not add any Div 1AA "graduates" unless they bring a lot to the table in other sports. Given WKU's hoops program, they might be viable. I'd hesitate to bring a Youngstown State or Western Illinois in because 1AA football seems to be all they offer and there is no reason to believe that either school is in a position to make a successful transition to 1A football.

In the case of YSU, I think we have NE Ohio pretty well covered with Kent and Akron. I can't see adding another school into that mix.
Right now, I still don't see team we would want that would want us.
Down the road a couple of years, Memphis could be a possibility.
Right now, they would not be interested and their hoops program is too upscale for the curretn MAC. On the other hand, it's too upscale for the new C-USA, too, which makes me think they will be dissatisfied with that arrangement rather quickly. It's just mind-boggling what has happened to that conference in basketball. Totally decimated. Memphis got screwed big time.

Memphis hasn't exactly been dominant for alot of years. They've seen a resurgance w/ Callipari, but even then, they aren't a "dominant" team.

They are better than the rest of CUSA, but they aren't an elite team.

Honestly, Callipari will probably leave, and CUSA will make the MAC look even better.
Memphis will not leave CUSA.

No, not now they won't. I'm looking forward a couple of years after things settle down a bit. The hoops revenues in CUSA are going to plummet and I think Memphis vision of itself is as a national program, something none of the remaining teams in CUSA can say. Unless they de-emphasize hoops--ain't gonna happen--they have to make a move to a stronger basketball conference. Right now they are an odd duck.
They have been overshadowed by the some of the departing teams--face it, UC OWNED that conference--won every title but one--but JC has done a decent job of bringing them back to more than respectability. Do you think they are just going to stay there indefinately in a conference with no national profile?
Problem is that Memphis has no viable alternatives, but to stay in CUSA. The Big East is now full, and the Mountain West is too far to the west for them, or so it would seem. With no openings in any major basketball conferences they're kinda stuck.

The Big East isn't full. They could always add a ninth football member. They should; it would make scheduling easier.

Memphis may or may not leave at this time. They are looking around, though.

Yeah, but they don't really have room in hoops now, which would be the top Memphis priority.
I'd be curious on whether the other renegade CUSA schools would want them invited in. I have a feeling Pitino and Huggins might pass on that idea if it were up to them.
I've asked some Memphis fans and they said that the word is there is no desire to jump ship now or in the future. The BE currently is full for basketball, and football wise....we'll have to see if anyone will actually want to join them. MWC is ridiculous, and their basketball is not any good anyways. Lets just see how things play out.
