This article has its flaws: It talks of 'national trends', while not citing enough data

Details of Cleveland's plight seem a bit exaggerated. Nevertheless, I would hope that Kent folks would be all over stuff like this...it is absolutely vital to tie Cleveland w/ Kent St...and sports constitute a reasonable thread in that tie.
