Full Version: Did somebody mention frauds?

I'm not going to call the Herd frauds simply because they got whupped by a better team. I'm not going to call them frauds because the titles they did "win" were gained while violating NCAA rules. I'm not going to call the Herd frauds because they're running away from the MAC to the weaker CUSA.

That would be utterly juvenile.

Congrats to the Herd for a great run that is now over. Congrats to the Redhawks for a great run that is just beginning 04-rock
I love a good preterition!
Well I am!

We Are........Frauds plain and simple.

The list of frauds in the MAC is now 2 I am sorry to say.

There is a ton I could post about this game (if you really want to call it that) but this is not the place for it. I will probably ruminate on some of the Herd boards today with others who feel my pain.

Congrats Miami, I know beating us has to feel good for you guys, so enjoy it!

Maybe we can regroup and do something next year. Time will tell. I'm rooting for you guys to win it all and go to a BCS bowl. Great win Miami.
Like all Miami fans, I enjoyed the game like heck last night, and am basking in the glow of taking the Herd down. Now, with that said Pruett is a very good coach, and the Herd will be back (albeit in the slightly weaker C-USA). I look for the Herd to be perienniel contenders in that league, and expect to see them in a MAC-CUSA bowl somewhere down the road.
I don't get it. Does it have to be black or white with Herd fans?

Marshall is a good club this year. They lost two MAC games to two quality opponents. No one is a "fraud."

To imply that Bowling Green (after beating Purdue, NIU, and almost beating Ohio State in the Shoe) is anything but a quality team which deserves national respect, is just craziness. As far as NIU is concerned, I suspect their defensive injuries have played a factor, but they are still at legitimate Top 25 team.

Moreover, I don't count Toledo out by any means. Toledo gets NIU at home, Western at home, and then travels to Bowling Green. That's a tough stretch, but I would not be surprised if Toledo ends up in the MACC Game.

Bowling Green has Kent at home (a possible land mine), Ball State away (another possible problem), and then Toledo at home. The schedule would favor Bowling Green, but does anyone think Toledo is incapable of beating BG?

NIU is obviously in more of a difficult position, having to rely on someone else to beat BG and having to go into the Glass Bowl this week, but they only have EMU after that.

And, again, I think any of these teams could beat Miami on their home field with a championship on the line. Look at all the wacky things that have happened this year in college football. All things are possible at this point.

Great showing by Miami, no doubt about it. And homefield appears to be a very important component in the 2003 MAC title race. But I have no doubt that UT, NIU or BG could beat Miami in a home game.

NIU obviously needs help, but I don't think it's that far-fetched to say that BG could lose one of their last 3 games.

Our injuries are certainly not helping things - we're without 3 2002 All-MAC performers (WR/PR Dan Sheldon, MLB Nick Duffy and now DE Travis Moore) for the rest of the year, and another (SS Akil Grant) missed the last 2 games and probably won't be available at Toledo. It's hard to overcome injuries to quality players, but I'm pretty sure the rest of the team will get off the bus in Toledo for the game on Saturday. :D

Thanks Dodo...I was getting a bit tired of hearing BG was a "fraud" cuz we lost at Miami.

Like I said, every team in America not named Oklahoma has had a bad day or two. BG loses at Miami and HerdLixNutz starts calling us a fraud? Whatever....Your point about the top 4 teams being able to beat any of the other 3 is correct...even though Miami looks awesome!

Marshall was supposed to play at BG next yr...I hope that still happens.

GO FALCONS!!!!

Exactly.

And we looked as horrid against Iowa as you guys did against us.

Is there any doubt in my mind that BG and Miami would BOTH beat Iowa if they played today -- no!

Again, NIU is just too beaten up -- that 's my take on them.

I don't know what to think about Toledo. I have no take. The last time I saw them play was against Marshall.

Taking off my orange colored glasses...BG is not a lock against any decent team.

I've only seen them twice (on TV): tOAMU and NIU.

There were goods and bads. But BG made a variety of unforced errors in both games. I understand that they're human, but the NIU ones concerned me b/c it seemed to be from a lack of concentration.

While I'm not star athlete, I do admire Wooden's expectation of trying for perfection.

Honestly, I thought Brandon should have chastised BG for the mistakes in those games...especially NIU. BG may have been more prepared for the RedHawks.

Honestly, I think BG can beat any team in the MAC, and I think they can go on a 5-game win streak. But, they need to improve their concentration and mental effort to go along w/ their (outstanding) physical effort and skills.
