Obviously, if we win our last two games and finish 8-4 we're eligible. But, could it happen? Well, here's a possible scenario if another bowl bid happens to open up.
Let's assume Toledump beats NIU. That gives NIU two conference losses. Then, let's assume BUGS beats Toledump. That gives the Rockettes two conference losses and four overall.
Obviously, BUGS and Miami are going to get the Ice Bowl and the GMAC bowl bids. (BTW. If you get the GMAC bid, go immediately to Travelocity and book the Best Western Battleship Inn. It's a little out of the downtown area but it's clean and it's cheap. Besides, there are plenty of taxis to haul your drunk ****** back to the hotel. Last year, they were slow in updating their prices and they didn't jack their rates up until about a day or two after the bids were announced).
But, if there's a 3rd bid to the MAC, would Marshall or NIU get the bid? Marshall fans have proven they will travel to bowl games but would they fly to Boise or Ft. Worth? NIU has the cinderella aura about them but would a bowl organizer take the chance that NIU's fans would go to the bowl after losing their division in the MAC? Personally, I don't know. Perhaps more to the point, would NIU be willing to guarantee the tickets and take a loss on the game in order to participate?
Of course, all this assumes the MAC will get three bids and I don't see that happening. I think somebody would take ACC #32 before they'd take a MAC team but I hope I'm wrong.
