Although there is some truth in what he sez about the tolls of playing a B10 type schedule week in and week out, he seems to miss that fans want to see the so-called "Little guys" take on the big guys (i.e. NCAA hoops tournament), and this is partially about entertainment value.

Also, I chuckled when he said that Miami would be a "Northwestern" if we played in the B10 this year................NU is a team we manhandled 44-14. I went to the Miami-NU game, and also went to the OSU-NU game, a game in which OSU could hardly move the ball consistently and won 20-0. Give me a break. Miami absolutely DOMINATED Northwestern, something mighty OSU couldn't do in its lacklustre (and home) victory.
And I'd be willing to bet that he hasn't seen Miami play this year....or any other MAC team for that matter!
This guy is really stupid. Turn the argument in reverse. Do you think that Wisconsin, Mich State, or even Ohio State is going to play a MAC schedule and go undefeated. Heck, Ohio State would probably lose at Alabama and Maryland. They would lose one more if they played NIU, BUGS, MiaO, possible Toledo, especially going on the road for half of their games. OSU has lost 1 game. Their record would be no better if they played the MAC this year. Someone would have bitten them. Purdue would have about the same record if played in the MAC. What are these guys talking about. This is not your Daddys MAC this year. Really, what is so tuff about a B10 schedule. Oh, I get it. Indiana, Ill, Penn State, Northwestern. Now that puts the fear of God in Big Ben. 04-rock 04-drinky
He also conveniently overlooks all the cash the undeserving bottom feeders of those conferences reap as their "earned" share of the BCS money. Give that same cash to any MAC team, and it overcomes a lot of recruiting disadvantages in a hurry. And the ******* rattles off names of BCS coaches as if they're gods...gimme a break. If they're so damn good, how the hell are these non-BCS teams beating them??? Can't prepare for an "inferior" opponent? Great coaching. Oh, and PLEASE....bring Purdue, Penn St., Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota into the MAC week in and week out. Maybe THEN all the MAC teams would get the respect they've already earned on the field instead of in some prejudiced pollster's head.

He should be reading e-mails from MAC fans until at least bowl season. What a maroon!
This type of attitude is the same with all BCS type people and fans. It is the way they make themselves feel better about themselves. Check out this thread......

What I don't get is the "week in and week out" crap. The only difference I see is that most BCS schools, ala Kansas St., fill their non-conference schedule with "cupcakes" while quality non-BCS schools fill their's with quality opponents. Miami played Iowa, Northwestern, Colorado State, BG, Marshall, and Toledo. Toledo played UNLV, Pitt, Syracuse, BG, NIU, and Marshall. Ect for the rest of the teams in the MAC. That is 6 to 7 quality games a year. Throw in the light weights from any BCS conference and their schedules against quality opponents is not that much worse. :chair:
Miami has a better strength of schedule rating in this week's BCS standings than LSU, Ole Miss, and Virginia Tech, just to name a handful of so-called power schools.

I haven't read the article and don't plan to give the idiot another hit, but I gather that he was touting Iowa -- a team that has only three wins over teams with winning records this season. Granted, those three wins (Michigan, Miami, and Minnesota) were impressive, but it takes a special kind of fool not to notice that the three were about equally impressive.
Shoot - give NIU the SEC notoriety and a big fat piece of their pie, and we could be competitive before long. Sure, first year we may not be, nor second, third or fourth. But give us a few years with that money injection and we'll see where we would be.

Put us all on equal financial ground, and then we'll talk. Until then, all of it is just hot air.
This guy sounds like the Rush Limbaugh of college football. I can take some brow beating of the Rockets from time-to-time, but when he dis's the Rockets and Mud Hens (in the same sentence even!) them thar are fightin' words!
