I've always been curious about college stadium names.
Like Kent State has Dix Stadium. And while It would be fun to think that calling it Dix was a response to the rubber bowl a few miles west of Kent, it wasn't. The Dix family owned a chain of small town papers in Ohio including the local Kent/Ravenna paper. I assume they were alums of the school.
Who/what is your stadium or arena named after?

Doyt Perry, the greatest football coach in Bowling Green history, now enshrined in South Bend.

Soon after Woody Hayes got fired and wanted to commiserate with friends, he met Bo Schembechler at Perry's house in Bowling Green with some other friends. He had that kind of respect in the college football community.

Perry won more than 80 percent of his games from 1955-64, along with five MAC titles and a national championship.
The Glass Bowl was named by my father. No kidding. They had a contest in the 40's, and his suggestion was adopted. He was an exec with one of the glass companies. Back then, Toledo WAS the glass capital of the world.
When did they drop the G-L?

Best answer to that would be to suggest you look up one of Rocketbandman's posts with the photo signature and the caption "why I love playing tuba".
Dwight B. Waldo guided WMU from its founding to 1936, orchestrating its development from a two-year normal school to a nationally recognized four-year teachers college. His vision, "tough love" leadership style, and unique combination of pragmatism and idealism are legendary around campus and Kalamazoo. The University's main library and football stadium are named in his honor. Part of his name also appears in the multi-purpose Walwood Hall, one wing of which was WMU's first dormitory for women while the other wing originally served as the student union.

named after contruction in 1896 for MR & MRS. SHITTYTOWN of Muncie In.
NIU - Brigham Field @ Huskie Stadium.

Brigham Field - named after Bob Brigham, long time AD and administration at NIU that took NIU to Div 1A in FB way back when (also helped us go big time and rival Notre Dame for top national independent FB program  , but we've kinda blocked that part out).

Huskie Stadium - uh, do I have to 'splain it?

EMU'S Rynearson Stadium was named for the late Elton J. Rynearson, Sr., who coached football at Eastern Michigan for 26 seasons. His teams compiled a record of 114-58-15. In one six-year period, from 1925-30, Rynearson
