Full Version: Suggestion for a New Scheduling Rule

Some schools really load the deck by scheduling most of their games at home. A prime example is Ohio State. This year, they play 8 at home and 4 on the road, with all out of conference games at home. Last year, they played 8 at home and 5 on the road (not including the final game against Miami). So, over the last 2 years, Ohio State has had 16 home games and only 9 road games.

Among other things, this kind of scheduling creates a tremendous advantage for boosting your wins, poll rankings, BCS rankings, etc. It truly creates an unfair advantage. All this is aside from the financial windfall. I think there should be an NCAA rule to bring more into balance the number of home games versus road games.
I agree, it is stupid! But I don't see any changes coming soon.
My scheduling plan would be that no MAC schools will give Marshall any outside of conference games as soon as we can get them out of the MAC. When ever they are unable to get BCS schools for outside of conference games let then schedule their traditional 1-AA games or Sun Belt games. :D

That's a sound plan for the entire MAC.
Well I would surely like for UCF to keep some games with MAC teams. I know that our leaving the conference leaves a sour taste. I don't like leaving the conference either. After Chryst was nice enough to give us a home when no one else was offering, and then he went and made the all sports offer to us. I really liked the guy, and was flattered by his offer to enter the conference. The only draw back is that this conference is really intended for Ohio and Michigan teams. We're kind of out there being from Florida. But I hope we can get together for OOC games.

UCF was a marriage of convenience, anyway. We needed a team, you folks needed a conference. To top it off, Marshall is like a dinner guest who is invited to a party and then proceeds to make rude comments about your home (despite living in a trailer themselves) and then steals your stuff when they leave. MAC teams should never schedule them again, but I don't see any reason for not playing UCF.

You and I think alike on this issue. We should all write to our AD and tell them we will boycott any future non-conference games with the hillbillies.
