What are you talking about? Did you even go to the link? It isn't about teams, but about individual players!

There is a link there for the best college football teams though. I went to that and there was not any MAC teams in there, including Marshall.

Herdon(1) - you really are stupid!
EMU made worst college football team list (receiveing votes / honorable mention).

Ouch!

RF, he usually spouts off without any knowledge of what he is talking about. Can't wait for the #1 rivalry in the nation coming soon to C-USA ...... Marshall vs Rice..... buttttttt at the expense of herdon and herdon only...I think the Moss play that should of made the Top 10....was the one where he hits an officer with his car and drags her a couple blocks.
Well if you look close Moss didnt make the list he just got some votes, he is at the bottom of it and the list is only the top ten.
FF you should see some one about your case of Herdon envy, it really is starting to show.

Where is the BG and Toledo superstars in the NFL, oh thats right there are none. 03-lol

Randy, Chad, Byron. Enough said 05-nono

That list is a joke anyway. How can you come up with the 10 best college football players of all-time......there is bound to be gripes for several players not mentioned that is very legitimate.

Toledo had two former players inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame. Toledo also had the first MAC player inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in Mel Long, Sr.

No Herdon(1).....not the WR, that was Mel Long, Jr.

As for Randy, Chad, and Byron...........They can't hold a candle to former Toledo center Andy McCullom and his Super Bowl Ring from a few years ago when the Rams won the Super Bowl.

Troy Brown got himself a ring, too. Patriots against the Rams, I do believe.
Andy McCullom's bank account can't hold a candle to Randy/Chad/Byron's either I would venture to guess.

Yes he did!

Umm......are you that stupid? McCollum is a center and the others you mentioned are QB's or WR. No center makes what QB's and WR's do. That doesn't mean they aren't any good. Are you going to say Steve Scuillo (SP?) isn't one of the best ever to play at Marshall because he doesn't make as much money in the NFL? That would be stupid. An OL will not make as much money.
Enough said, a center that no one has herd of 03-lol 03-lol 03-lol

Powerhouse program that recurits well :snore:

If it's the College Bowl those two are playing, there would be a wood-shed whipping at the hands of the Owls.

Just because you're an ignorant fool, doesn't mean that no one has heard of him.

I suppose you haven't heard of Emlen Tunnell? 9 time NFL Pro Bowler and NFL Hall of Famer. He was the first African-American voted into the NFL Hall of Fame. He was listed as #70 on the Sporting News Top 100 NFL players of all time.

Or how about Mel Triplett? As a fullback in the NFL, he averaged 4.2 ypc for his career, 8 NFL seasons. He also averaged 10.2 yards per reception for his NFL career.

Oh, and you never heard of Mel Long, Sr? He was the first consensus All-American in MAC History!

How about QB Gene Swick? He became the first quarterback in NCAA history to pass for over 8000 yards in a career back in 1975. He finished 10th in the Heisman voting that year.

Or how about DL Dan Williams? He was the 11th overall pick in the 1993 NFL draft.

Then there was QB Chuck Ealey, who is the only QB ever to go undefeated for his high school and college football career. He was the only player to be named MAC Player of the Year 3 years in a row. He finished 8th in the Heisman voting in 1971 and then went on to be a star in the CFL where he won the Grey Cup in his first season.
One little addendum, RF.... When Ealey went to Hamilton, they were last in the league the previous year (Ealey's senior season 1971). They went 11-3 to win the Grey Cup in his rookie season. Chuck Ealey never learned to lose.

editor's note: I had originally posted that they went undefeated, but that haunted me, so I went to the Tigercats website for the official stat. But I stand by the statement that Ealey never learned to lose. There was never a game he didn't fully believe he and his team could pull out the win.

Another thought....
You mentioned Center Andy McCullom of the Rams....He spent a good number of years struggling to start in the NFL but his work ethic and intelligence (coaches' words) kept him around til he got the chance to start for the Rams. He's stuck for quite a few years now. And the last time I saw the Rams play earlier this year, I swear I saw him at Guard....Just checked...yep...he's listed at LG.
You guys should be proud :D

The moldy oldy record book really gets a work out with you guys, can you say living in the past.

Chuck Ealey was a great player! I believe his Toledo teams had a 31 game winning streak, the longest in the country for many years. If you want to talk about dominance in college football, you have to include the Rockets during that time. They were awesome!!!
Sorry, I should have done my research before stating that I thought Toledo had a 31 game win streak. It actually was a 35 game winning streak. See below:

Miami's Win Streak Standing the Test of Time
By MARK LONG

Only six Division I-A teams have had winning streaks longer than Miami, but none since Toledo's 35-game winning streak that ended in 1971. Oklahoma (1953-57) holds the NCAA Division I-A record with 47 consecutive victories.
