BG to the Motor City Bowl!

Go KSU! We want MSU!
Great for BG. I am pulling for you all the way!

Go MAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations, BG! You guys really deserve it!! Take care of your business, and we'll take care of ours!
Great news for our Orange clad friends..............I just saw the news in the CBS Sportsline recap of the game tonight. I honestly don't think it would've been fair for the MCB to pass you up since you only lost to 3 top 20 teams (twice to the same one). I can only hope that somehow NIU will find a way to a bowl as well, although I know it's very unlikely now.
Congrats to BG. I hope to see a lot of orange when I make my way down to Ford Field on the 26th.

Congrats BG on the bowl birth. Congrats to Miami for winning the outright MAC title!
Congratulaions to NIU as well. A 10 win season should mean an automatic bowl bid. Just as the injustice of previous 10 win MAC teams sitting home lead to a second bowl bid, perhaps the injustice suffered by you folks will lead to greater opportunities for the conference down the road.

All in all, I'm proud to call Miami our Champions this year. They are a great team and are deserving of a top ten ranking. I am also proud to share the Western division with NIU. We have a tremendous rivalry brewing. You guys are going to be spoiling for a chance top prove yourselves next year. It should be interesting.

See you folks in Detroit!!!!
Congatulations to BG. Just wondering if anyone knows why the MCB waited so long to extend the invitation? All this talk about NIU going if BG lost was just a pile of crap that should have been avoided last Saturday. Good luck to you and Miami in your bowls. Sadly, we'll be home for the bowl season, but we will be watching.
Congrats, more than deserved.
Congrats to BG. Hope you can get a better opponent than NW. I also hope our President and Athletics Department shop us around to other conferences because it doesn't appear the MAC is going to be going anywhere fast. Again, good luck to BG(and Miami) in your bowls. I really don't get how the announcers could even say Miami/Louisville will be a good game(then again, it was Corso). Miami will slaughter Louisville(I would guess a 49-20ish score. I think there is still a shot at Music City(I think that was the one) if Georgia beats LSU and the SEC gets 2 teams in the BCS games. Doesn't look good though. I guess it is wait 'til next year.
Bowling Green accepts Motor City Bowl bid

December 5, 2003
DETROIT (AP) -- Bowling Green accepted a bid to play in the Motor City Bowl after losing to No. 14 Miami of Ohio on Thursday night in the Mid-American Conference championship game.

Bowling Green (10-3, 7-2 MAC) will play a Big Ten team, likely Northwestern, on Dec. 26 at Ford Field. It will be Bowling Green's first bowl appearance since the 1992 Las Vegas Bowl.

The Falcons advanced to the MAC championship game for the first time since the conference began matching up its division winners in a title game in 1997.

The conference was shopping both NIU and BG around for a third bid. Unfortuantely, those efforts fell short and an excellent NIU squad sits at home this year

Rob, you don't mean that we should look for another conference, do you? There is no other conference for NIU right now, nor will there be in the near future. Right now the MAC needs at least one more bowl bid for next year. This is our second year in a row that we have been third man out. GO MAC!!! 04-bow

Actually, yes I do. Hey, it is nothing against the teams in the MAC but once again, a bowl worthy team stays home. All I hear about the MAC is how the MAC is getting better(and it is slowly) yet nothing changes with regard to going bowling. I don't see a third bowl in the conferences future. There is still a negative perception of the conference. My God, BG couldn't even sell their game out tonight. If the fans don't show up for big games in conference, will they show up at a bowl game? That is what the bowls are looking at. I know you will bring up our attendance in our last game. The media had already said we were sitting home no matter what the outcome so why would people go? I really think we need to seriously look around. The MAC may be the the only place but we NEED to let others know we are interested(obviously it would be done quietly so we don't upset the conference). If you are looking for a job, you don't just hope a job comes to you, you go out and be aggressive. I was not around in our independent days so I have a little different perspective than many Huskie fans. We need to look for the best possible opportunity.

probably because they wanted people to actually show up to the MACC. But anyways, this is awsome! Go Miami in the GMAC. Go Falcons in the MCB! GO MAC! Congrats to NIU, Marshall and Toledo who should be in bowls to! Hopefully we will have more bowls next year.

I would guess they thought Bowling Green (or, maybe, Northern Illinois) might be able to win the adoration of Fort Worth or the Humanitarian with a win. With a win, Bowling Green would have been ranked -- and after four national television appearances, some people might even vaguely know something about Josh Harris.

Obviously, this didn't work out. The Fort Worth and Humanitarian bowls were pretty much settled by Wednesday. I suppose the Motor City could have invited Bowling Green at that point. I figure they just wanted to keep suspense high by holding off on the announcement.

It did seem a foregone conclusion though. At the end of the third quarter, as orange-clad vans begain filing out of Perry Stadium in shock, people were passing out Motor City Bowl order forms. I left with about five minutes left, and I don't remember them ever announcing it on the PA system.

Shut your pie hole and read my other two posts on this subject.

A MAC championship game has never sold out. Don't beat Bowling Green over the head with this nonsense.

Congrats BUGS, hope you somehow manage a decent opponent. If not, beat Northwestern!
Oddy, we are certainly glad we could make your day a good one! 03-wink
Congratulations BG.

From the sound of what people are saying about next year it looks like all of the West's big 3 will be back for another 3 way battle.

And frankly, to me there is no other conference for NIU. The MAC is it for programs in the north. CUSA is fine if you're in the south or even in border land like WVa. The MWC and WAC are fine if you're in the west. But we're in the north (the snow outside my window tells me so), and we've got the MAC.
