Monday 12/15
Cornell @ NIU--Oh, I get it--it's a theme week, so they invited CORNell! Nicely done! 04-bow
WMU vs UAB at Mobile--another good road test.

Wednesday 12/17
Duquesne @ Akron--look for the Dukies to take a beating. Akron big.
Robert Morris @ Buffalo--Bulls extend win streak with ease. HOT!
Cleveland St. @ Kent--Flashes should be angry after Sunday's lackluster performance. But will they shoot better?
EMU @ Fla.St.--It's nice and warm down there I hear! That's a plus.

Friday 12/19
Detroit @ BG--TOledo found out how good Detroit is: super quick guards who can shoot and a big man who can muscle. Be warned.
NIU vs San Jose St in Hawaii--Hawaii games are always a crap shoot.
EMU @ Pittsburgh--it's not as warm in Pittsburgh. That's a minus. Who made this schedule, anyway? Geez, FSU and Pitt back-to-back on the road?

Saturdayday 12/20
Miami vs SMU at Purdue Inv.--tough matchup if you don't score. Mustangs can hang.
Akron @ Cleveland St.--Rivalry game like CSU-Kent on Wed. Win is big plus for Vikings. Akron a much more talented team.
Marshall @ UMASS--mid pack A10 team--loses to BC by one then loses to Central Conn. Weaker than Rhode Island who just played Kent, so Herd should roll big time. 03-wink
WMU @ Loyola--Know nothing about Loy. Scouts?
CMU @ Michigan--tougher to win this year from both angles.
Toledo @ DePaul--another tough road game for the Rockets. A win here would be sweet, but this is a brutal arena for visitors.
Ball St. @ IUPUI--even tougher than Ind. St. Road woes have continued for the Cards.
Ohio @ Navy--Navy is the much weaker team.
Kent State @ Boston College--toughest road opponent on the schedule for us. BC will be wanting revenge for last year's loss at the Gund. This would be a great upset for us.
NIU at Hawaii Tourney game #2 (BYU or Hawaii)
EMU vs. Wagner @ Pittsburgh--Any Wagner fans out there?

Sunday 12/21
Miami vs Purdue or IPFW at Purdue Inv.
Eastern Mich vs. Chicago State--Should be back to back wins for the Hureagles. But four games this week with the first on Wed.? Whew. Take 2 wins and be very happy.

I am! He was great in Hart to Hart!

And he's from deep in the heart of MAC country Detroit, Michigan.

Actually, I think he's talking about Richard Wagner, the composer of Lord of the Rings.

With the game in Pittsburgh, I was thinking of Pirate great, Honus Wagner. 03-lol

Plenty of information available about him on the backs of baseball cards.
Wagner is from Staten Island in NYC and a member of the NEC. They are 0-4 this year but lost a heartbreaker in their last game by 2 to a top 25 Dayton on the road with a reportedly questionalble offensive foul call to end the game. A couple of good big men (6-10 or so), but EMU should win easiy on an neutral court in Pitt.

But I like the Honus Wagner reference better. A baseball thread to warm up a cold and snowy Monday in NYC. Ya gotta love it.

We WIN!!! WE BEAT CORNELL COLLEGE!!! WHOOOOOOOO!!!!!
04-rock 04-rock 04-rock 04-rock 04-rock

I can't help but wonder what the point of playing games like this is. I suppose we generated a little revenue, and got our players some scrimmage time, but all in all I'd say last night was almost as embarrassing as Saturday for Huskie hoops...

Fortunately, we'll make up for it on the 30th against mighty St.Francis of Indiana, coincidentally the same night the UIC Flames will be taking on the Illinois Fighting Illini in a huge, high-profile game in Chicago....

EMU pulled out of the Pittsburgh tournament (don't ask...real sore subject around campus) so we will not be playing Wagner.

Our next game is December 23 at home against Northern Colorado.

I agree, 18 turnovers against a 1-5 Div III team was REALLY embarassing. Maybe we can go for 20 when we play St. Francis of Indiana. My question is how many will we have when we actually play someone like BYU(should we get that far, which is questionable).

NIU at Hawaii Tourney game #2 (BYU or Hawaii)
Just found out that your post about our tournament is not quite true(I thought that was the case too but it is not. We do play SJS in the first game but the second game will be the winner of BYU-Hawaii and Baylor(as surprising as it may sound, there is a BYU campus in Hawaii and that is the one in the tournament not the good one). Even though this makes the tournament less interesting. anytime you can go to Hawaii to play, it is a good thing for the players. I will try to refrain from making jokes about Baylor. :biggun: Sorry, I couldn't resist.
BYU-Hawaii??? Pray tell, what division are they?
The Surfin Mormons? The Polynesian Polygamists?
What's their mascot?
I wonder if they could beat CMU-Dayton...
:D

I decided to remove some of the details, I jdidn't think anything more than what I left was really important(and made the post waaay to long. Yes, it was more than you wanted to know and it was even more than I wanted to know. :)
More than I needed to know.
BG is playing Detroit on Thursday, not Friday. Not a game I am looking forward to seeing. Told my Dad to scalp his extra season ticket for the game for a dime, but I am saving him the embarrassment of doing that by using it myself.

Huron Dave--I've got to ask!
Why the big change in the schedule? I noticed now that Fla. St is playing Wagner and Pitt. What happened? Seems very odd to drop 4 straight games out of the schedule.
Inquiring minds want...etc.

How about the Rainbow Osmonds?

It would certainly make for an amusing mascot....

Well, it all depends on who you want to believe. When EMU dropped out of the Pitt tourney before the season began, the Ann Arbor News quoted our intrepid coach, Jim Boone, as saying that he did not want to "start the season 0-5." How is that for confidence in your team, huh?

The official line was the the tournament organizers breached the contract by trying to have EMU play an additional game that was not originally part of the deal.

So...we end up with a cream-puff OOC schedule and still can't even go better than .500...we are 3-4 with only one win against D1 competition. The vultures are beginning to circle above Boone. He better make it to Cleveland this year or he will be looking over his shoulder I suspect.

Either way, we should have honored our comittment. It would have prepared us much better for the MAC season than wins against Marist, Albion and Concordia.
