Incredible.....the game vs. Houston is literally over and with Houston outta TO's and about a minute to play, Hawaii THROWS the ball (incomplete) and stops the clock. Then, they gag on a FG and Houston comes back and scores to tie it up at the end of regulation. I don't care enough about this game to stay up, but if Houston wins it'll be due to the incredibly stupid coaching of Hawaii. I still am in disbelief over that passing play. Unbelievable!
Hawaii wound up winning, but not very deservingly.

Oh, and Hawaii and Houston got into a brawl following the end of the game. Someone please refresh my memory... but doesn't Hawaii usually get into these brawls pretty frequently in that stadium? I'm only glad Hawaii won because I picked them in my office pool, but I'm really starting to think of them as Thug University. Dumb coaching decisions and dumb sportsmanship at the end of games. Too much sun, surfing, and partying starting to fry their minds out there in the middle of the Pacific?
Maybe the name gets them into a lot of fights...defending the "Rainbow Warriors." :crying:
I'm glad someone else noticed this about Hawaii. It happens under the radar because of how late they play, but I've seen a lot of thuggery out there in football and basketball.
Hawaii and brawls are commonplace. UC had one with them a couple years back, our team got into with them a year ago, and I believe that there have been other instances as well. The parts of the game I watched were highly entertaining, but their overall skill level as a team doesn't impress me all that much.

Looks like C-USA is having another one of "those" kind of bowl seasons again........0-2 vs. WAC, 0-1 vs. MAC, with the S-Miss-Utah game to go. (in their only bowl win, Memphis beat Sunbelt rep North TX State). Just curious (cause I really don't know), but at the risk of starting another C-USA "flame war" just what is C-USA's bowl record the last couple of years......seems to be that it's been pretty bad.

Did anyone see what set them off last night? It appeared they just attacked Houston for no reason.

From ESPN:

"You don't want a game to end like that, but emotions are so high like that when people lose, they're going to want to fight," said Hawaii's Kelvin Millhouse, who intercepted two passes. "They were talking with us, messing with us the whole game. I don't think they liked us. I don't think we liked them very much either."

and

"The referees let it get out of control during the game by not taking control of some of the taunting and some of the things that were going on," Hawaii coach June Jones said. "I told them in the middle of the third quarter, `If you don't get control of this game we've got a problem."

No mention of the fact that Hawaii seems to do this quite often.
Yeah, Coaches, blame the officials. I thought the coaches are in charge of their teams? Whatever happened to personal responsibility in America?? It's always "somebody else's fault".

I remember that this game ended in a brawl.

I've seen games where the officials have let way too much go and the result is usually exactly what June Jones said. However, when something happens repeatedly, you have to question whether there is something much more to it.

Miami OH played the 3rd place team in CUSA. 1 vs 3, they should win. TCU and Houston played arguably 2 of the most exciting bowl games in the past 5 years but simply came out on the short side of them. Memphis dominated their game, and Souhtern Miss is the favorite against a very good Utah team. Yes 0-2 vs. WAC but excellent showings in each game, not to mention Hawaii essentally played another home game vs. Houston. It's safe to say so far that every team going bowling for CUSA this year are good teams and deserving of the bowl they play in.

I believe Southern Miss will beat Utah.

That's a funny post. 03-lol
Don't disagree that the Fort Worth and Hawaii bowls were good (and competitive) games, KnightTime. But, it's the C-USA followers who continually brag that they have the best non-BCS conference, and year after year (use any excuse that you like) they pretty much get creamed by the MAC, and by most everybody else in bowl games.

Actually, I don't like Hawaii (low class program if you ask me) so I wasn't pulling for them last night while I was watching, and although I don't have a high opinion of C-USA as a conference, I don't dislike them so much as get tired of their fans telling everyone else how they are the best non- BCS conference. And, as soon as you point out how poorly they've done in head-to-head matchups or bowl games, they revert to comparing attendance or whatever else is handy.

I just find it kind of funny that most every bowl season they go down with a poor record, but come right back with that "we're the best non-BSC conference" stuff almost immediately.

Similar to the Coaches from the Cradle punching fans, band members, and opposing players?

Did I miss something, Stick? I thought Wauford resigned under pressure, and left the Miami program. Doesn't seem to me that MUr condoned that kind of response, even to to Flounder's "low-class" taunting. End of story.

Hey Knight Time, You could at least wait another year to start defending C-USA's bowl record. Give Miami the respect they deserve, if TCU hadn't ducked them they would have been crushing the second best team in C-USA instead of Loserville. Miami is clearly one of the best teams in the nation this year and BUGS only losses were to the Redhawks and the Suckeyes. So give it up for both teams, they deserve it, they represented themselves and the MAC very well all year long. They both ended the year of the MAC attack in style. Congrats guys. 04-bow 04-bow 04-bow

Uh, say what?

Oddball may just let it go w/ a smirk, but let's think back:

I'm surprised the Marshall fans let you off w/o the mention of the GMAC bowl from last year 61-62. Folks said that was pretty exciting.

Also there was this Fiesta Bowl last season, you may have heard reference to it: Ohio St (13-0) vs Miami (FL) 13-0. Tied by a last second play. Went into double OT, on a controversial call. Some folks said it was the game of the century...already!

But hey, if you think Houston v Hawaii is tops, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

That was last year alone.

Then there was Mich St 37-34 win over Florida in the 1999 Citrus Bowl
UMich 35-34 win over 'Bama in the 1999 Orange Bowl
S. Carolina's 31-28 win over tOAMU in the 2001 Outback Bowl
Kansas St over Arizona St in the 2002 Holiday Bowl

Shall I go on?
