Ok, now that we have the ugliness of our very disappointing OOC slate behind us, we can start focusing on the REAL season. As bad as we've looked thus far, I'm optimistic about our MAC chances simply because we've been beating ourselves thus far. With the expection of the disaster at Marshall, we really haven't been dominated by anyone. Instead we've been giving games away with turnovers, poor shooting and missed free throws, all potentially correctable mistakes.

I'm hoping our miserable performance in Huntington was an aberration, and that we'll bring the focus and intensity to conference play necessary to make a strong showing.

I've decided to go high road for the time being and I'm going to say we stop turning the ball over, start making our 3s and frees, Hughes steps up in a big way and we finish conference play w a very respectable 10-8 mark. 04-rock
I agree that we may be able to stop the turnovers, and hit the threes, but I don't see us improving our free-throw percentage much. This problem has plagued us for the last several years. It gets to the point where we get to the line, and I just know in my gut that we'll miss it, or miss at least 1 of the 2 throws. 03-banghead
You may be right, but IMO, making free throws is about concentration. If we're going to see an improvement in conference play, it'll be the result of increased concentration and focus.
The "real" season ends Sunday after the Sugar Bowl is completed. :D

Correction-football season ended Nov.22nd.

Fortunately, the really exciting part of hoops season is just starting. 04-rock

Ooooooo....is this when we decide to show up and play BB games rather than spend a week on a sunny Hawaiian beach in December?

Looking forward to seeing in-person if we're really as bad as we've shown so far. How's that for optimism?

Looking forward to my first live view of the Huskies tomorrow versus Ohio. My guess is that attendance will be abysmal. Some things never change in DeKalb.

My focus of attention will be squarely on James Hughes, Michael McKinney, Ryan Paradise and Paige Paulsen. The current crop of sophmores is most disappointing. Hopefully Hughes and the three true freshmen are good enough to start wrestling playing minutes away from Anthony Maestranzi, Todd Peterson and Rome Sanders. I hate to say it, but I would like Judson to have more of any eye toward next year and beyond versus this year.
Expecting the worst and hoping for the best.

Fine with me. Put Hawaii on the OOC schedule for the football team next year.

Not sure why you're so upset about this trip by the basketball team. It's not their fault the football team didn't get invited to a bowl. I'm sure the decision to participate in the hoops tournament had a lot more to do with influential alums looking for an excuse to travel to Hawaii in frigid December than it did with the worthiness of the Huskies to go there.

The trip to Hawaii would have been just fine had the Huskies played some basketball rather than taking it as a vacation! 05-nono

Precisely. Enough in the administration are tight with the cash in all areas to send the BB team all the way to Hawaii and have them not even show up. Doesn't really respect the money spent to get 'em there, which is even worse considering they have yet to step up in the earning department.
