Any insight? Some of the recruits were highly touted. It appears this coach has recruited some duds and he can't coach a lick either. The MAC is a better conference with a strong Ohio U. program. They traditionally lead the conference in attendance and bring a throng to Cleveland. What has happened?
Just part of the natural decline of this program. The basketball power in this league has moved from Ohio and MiamiU to programs located closer to urban centers like EMU, Kent, and NIU.
So because OU and Miami are in rural locations, it's natural that they will suck? I think thats a BS response. Next.

Um...EMU is as bad/worse than OU. Buffalo is in a huge "urban center" and stinks.

CMU won the league last year. I don't know if you've been to Mt. Pleasant, but it's hardly urban. Same with this year's front-runner in K-Zoo, WMU.

Plus, our "urban" team sucks!

I've got a better answer. They fired a very good coach and hired a terrible one.

No.....Can you realize that schools located closer to talent are going to have an advantage? Thats why over the last 10 years EMU and Kent have fielded better teams then ever before. CMU had a very short run....and no doubt a school like Ohio is capable of it once in a while.....but thats about it.

The advantage Ohio had in the past was The Convo....which has been leepfroged by newer facilities. Even so, at best this program was rountinely in the top 3 of the MAC in the 60's and since the 80's consistantly middle of the pack.

Schools with the best long term potential in this league are WMU, NIU, EMU, Kent, Akron and BallSt (Indiana recruiting hotbed). Ohio has the worst location in this conference, and should be in the bottom 3 year in and out.
Toledo is a large, urban area and it's an hour from Detroit. Their hoops program has been ok, but nothing close to what it was in the late 70's and early 80's.

BG is a stone's throw from Toledo and we haven't been in the NCAA's since 1968.

EMU was a lot better in the 80's and 90's than they are now.

I think your theory leaves a bit to be desired...

Pretty much everything "Kit-Cat" posts leaves a lot to be desired...probably the reason he was laughed off the BobcatAttack boards...
Kit-Cat....tell us the truth, your amongst friends here{snicker}....your a Miami grad trying to make the OU posters(the few that are left) look like stooges? Right?

EMU and Kent were NEVER good in the 60's in the 70's. And in the last 10 years both had extended runs.

The location rule is to be applied very generally.....exceptions do exsist.

Toledo and BG still have been better than OU over the last 5 years.

OU hasn't finished higher than 5th in the conference since Trent left. Is this how a "basketball" school plays, bobcatfan? I think you have to make the tourney more than once every 20 years to call yourself a good basketball school.
I'll bet coach Hunter is laughing his ****** off... wherever he is at. OU needs a change. Quick.

That may have been true as recently as last year, but I'm not sure it's true now. Buffalo could make some real noise this season.

Who would waste their time in Athens besides Timmy O'Shea? We pay peanuts, located in the middle of knowhere.

Big Time hoops written all over it.

Looking at common opponents so far this season would seem to put the lie to your statement. 05-nono

Ohio 63
Navy 52

EMU 99

Thats an ignorant answer.

Hunter has a worse record in the MAC tournament than O'shea. Hunter sucked and his teams played inconsistantly. His teams always rode the coat tails of great players. Timmy has 2 ACC wins and rebuilt this program into a point guard oriented squad, the orientation you need in this league to win titles.

O'shea > Hunter

You'll learn to Fear Jeremey Fears.
Right.
