DrTorch Wrote:Joe Novack needs to quit whining about his team being left at home at Northwestern's expense.

The Cats proved that they were bowl worthy and that a 6-win Big Ten team deserves a bowl bid more than a 10-win MAC team because, quite simply, the Cats played a tougher schedule in a tougher league. Novack and the Huskies are barking up the wrong tree. The Cats earned this bowl bid
Complete and utter, unadulterated horse sh!t.

The ONLY reason this was even close was because BG played one of their worst games of the year and NU played one of their best.

Then again, who the hell cares? Nothing is going to change, no matter how much we complain about it, so why bother? It's a whole lotta .....03-banghead 03-banghead

I guess that spin is inevitable from Northwestern partisans.
Quote:I've been on four of Northwestern 's five bowl trips -- two with the band and two as a fan

Enough said.
Northwestern had the privilege of playing -- and losing to -- two of the MAC's three ten-win teams, once relatively narrowly and once quite badly. Why is there any reason whatsoever to believe that they would be any more successful against the third?

Northwestern beat teams NIU would have beaten, and lost to teams NIU could have beaten. Northwestern would have lost at Alabama and been smoked by Maryland. To believe otherwise is very, very foolish.

BTW - since when has a Big 6 school's prime objective been to try to play well against a non Big 6 team? 04-rock 04-rock

Northwestern beat 1 team with a winning record- Wisconsin. The only other team they beat with more than 3 wins is Kansas, who won 6 cream puffs. Northwestern was a horrible team that snuck into a bowl game by being affiliated with the Big 10. Something needs to be done to prevent 6-6 teams in BCS confernces from bowling. No one wanted to watch Kansas, and not many people wanted to see Northwestern playing.
