Anybody watch the game? I watched for a while but turned it because it was boring. Just curious if Azar got into the game/scored any points.All I can seem to find is an article about the Iowa player but no box score.
I watched for a little bit, saw him hit a 30? yrd field goal. I was flipping between that and the Midlands wrestling meet at N'Wester...The Huskies' Ben Heiser represented well despite his overtime loss to Va Tech.
Thanks. Looking at the score it looks like he got a field goal and 3 extra points. Not a bad days work. Hope he can get a NFL job. Do the Denver Bronco's need a kicker? That would be perfect for him. :)
I wish Azar good luck in his attempt at the pros. IMO, he will make it somewhere in the NFL.
I just happened to see part of the game by chance at a bar on Saturday night. Azar's xp's and fg's looked good, but his kickoffs were bad. I don't think that any of them got close to the endzone. One didn't even make it to the 10 yard line.

Were they kicking off from the 30 or the 35?
I saw several short kickoffs in the championship games yesterday.
Not sure where the kickoffs started. The TV was on the other side of the bar. It was cool giving my friend from Iowa some grief about it, as I began to taunt him about our game at Iowa in 2007, I believe. The Hawkeyes are going down.
My guess is Steve Azar gets an invite to somebody's NFL camp. Field goal kicking in the plus 35 yard range and kickoff length will be the two big basis by which he is judged.
I think kickoffs in the NFL aren't as big a deal as field goals. If you watched the two championship games yesterday, due to the cold weather, kickoffs averaged about the 20 yard line and field position around the 35 yard line which really had no major role in the outcome of either game. Besides they generally come after points are scored, so if you have a good defense, its really no big deal if the offense starts at the 35 yard line. A punter imo is more important in the NFL in regards to field position. Therefore, Azar should be able make a team based on the fact he's a fairly accurate PK from 40 yards plus.
One thing I wonder about him, however, are his kicks to low and more succeptible to blocks.
Steve is one of the best PKs I have ever seen - college or pro. I think he will be the most missed graduating senior from the 2003 team. You just don't replace consistency and accuracy like that. IMO, any NFL team in need of a kicker would be foolish not to give Steve a try.
