Just as the Bucks were about to drop out...they go and beat a short-handed Purdue on the road!

The Buckeyes aren't in danger of falling out of the top 10. The Penguins are on deck. It's a long way down to YSU even for the Buckeyes!

Neither one could beat the mighty Yellow Jackets of Cedarville! :monty:
I think you have tOSU ranked way to low. Sure it has been a really bad year for them, but I have seen some of those other teams play in person and I seriously doubt that Miami or Wright State would beat tOSU head to head. However if you are rating the teams based on how successful their seasons have been you are pretty accurate. But if you are ranking them by how good they are then tOSU should be about 4th.
Stu, you haven't been watching these rankings for too long, have you?
nope, I'm new to this board. Sorry if i missed something.

I have also seen several of these teams play in person. I feel pretty confident that the Buckeyes would lose to more teams on this list than they could beat. Sagarin has the Buckeyes as eighth best in the state compared to ninth in my ratings. So I don't think my ratings are off too much. According to Sagarin, the Buckeyes would be underdogs in every gym on this list except their own. As if they'd actually have the onions to play at one of the gyms on this list.

But I know how to settle it! How 'bout an Ohio state tournament? Here are the rules. Thirteen seeded teams. Lower seed plays at the higher seed.

First round matchups:

#13 Cleveland State at #4 Toledo
#12 Ohio at #5 Miami
#11 Youngstown State at #6 Wright State
#10 Bowling Green at #7 Akron
#9 Ohio State at #8 Xavier
First round byes: #1 Cincinnati, #2 Kent State, #3 Dayton

Anybody who thinks the Buckeyes could finish in the top four of this tournament by winning on the road at Xavier and at Cincinnati is out of his mind.

Your idea is flawed because it uses the rankings of a flawed system to punish schools by sending them on the road. If you really wanted to find the best team you schould have all the teams play each other once on a neutral court location. If this happened are you telling me tOSU would lose to 8 teams? There is simply no way. Ohio State would get killed by Cincy and would probably lose close games to Kent State and Dayton. I think Toledo would give tOSU a very good game, But other than that I don't think Ohio State would have any trouble with the remaining teams. So like I said tOSU is no worse than the 4th or 5th best team in the state despite having a bad season.
:D
Man, I love this thread.
Stu, seriouslsy, thank you for stopping by. 04-bow Real Buckeye fans posting here are rarer than games played between tOSU and Ohio schools.

You know, Stu, this statement alone means you are one straight up guy. That any OSu fan would admit they weren't the ONLY team in the state is unusual.
:bluethumb:
No problem man, I try to keep the blinders off and some you MAC fans should too. tOSU as the 9th best team in the state is just rediculous.

You think it's unfair for the Buckeyes to play on the road? What a surprise.

Naturally, I'm sure you'd also insist on a centrally located neutral court.

If you took the balls of all the Buckeyes in the world, you'd have a peas and pearl onions frozen entree.

Buckeyes-Road? I thought Ohio A&M was the capital of the sports universe, they shouldn't have to play on the road. On a serious note, I wouldn't pick OSU to beat 6 of those team on that list.
No way is Akron better than BG. We beat Akron on their home floor.
And Ohio State, IMO, is in the correct spot. They played a great game against Purdue after gettting whooped on the last couple games before that.

BuckeyeStu, now my second favorite Stu...

I just hope I made the "real" Buckeye fan criteria.... 03-wink

Nope, you don't, MAC tOAMU--you've got MAC in your blood, as much as you may try to deny it. You know far too much about the MAC to qualify as a "true" Buckeye fan. You might have even been excommunicated from the Columbus religion and not know it . :D
And love the Stu!

Blasphemous!

Not yet, though wearing MAC garb to Buckeye games does raise a few eyebrows....

By the way, I think Stick's rankings are pretty right on.
