Looks like Clarett isn't taking the scouting combines very serious, just like he didn't take his studies very serious. He says he needs more time to get in shape... in shape???? What the hell was he doing all season when he wasn't allowed to play???? I mean other than interviews with police and the OSU Board?

Stupid. For a guy who's breaking the rules and hasn't played in 20 months, he needs to show he's a team player, and in shape.

This will cost him big time.

Personally, I think Clarrett can play, like him or not. But, w/ this attitude he may be the next Lawrence Phillips.

You may want to restate that. Clarett may be a dipswitch, but I don't think he's been accused of committing the same crimes that Lawrence Phillips was.

Clarett is already not a first round pick this year, why prove it by going to the combine out of shape. He'll do a personal workout after he has more time to get in shape.

The point is, as Falcon Frenzy indicated, that Clarett should AND could have been in shape for the combine.

Now he is certainly highlighting his immaturity and lack of commitment to the various NFL teams after he had to force his way in the NFL door. Not a very smart move on his part, but then he does have a knack for that.

Eli Manning isn't at the combine. Is he immature and not committed?

Hey, Clarett has to show NFL teams a lot, but there are always teams that will overlook certain behavior depending on the value at that particular pick. As for Maurice, I think it's actually a shrewd move. If he's not in shape, he shouldn't go to the combine - just another chance to have your stock drop.
But the point everyone's making is, why isn't he in shape? He should have been prepared for the combine, but instead, it's just one more thing we're he will get negative pub!
It takes about 3 weeks of banquet food to make college seniors out of shape for the combine. It's also more of an agent power play to miss the combine than anything else.

IMO, him being out of shape right now isn't nearly as troublesome as a multi-million dollar NBA or MLB player - who's being paid to be in shape - being too lazy to keep themselves as sharp as possible. Maurice is only hurting himself right now, not his team and fan base.
Also one more thing to add....he was going to either play in the pros next year or play for Ohio State, spring ball is just around the corner so he should of been in shape no matter what.
