Oops, sub-title line should read "expansion thread."

I really appreciate PhatPhelix's comments. Very well thought out and realistic.

Navy, as he indicates, doesn't want or need a conference affiliation. Their two concerns are scheduling and a bowl, when appropiate.

PhatPhelix makes a good case that Navy seems to be able to land a bowl bid when their team warrants.

Maybe best that Navy schedule 1 or 2 FB games /year with the MAC schools (it was EMU and CMU this year) and the MAC give them 2nd looks if an at-large bid pops up for the Motor City Bowl or the hopefored Hoosier Bowl.

As I've indicated before in a post, the MAC NEEDS 12 quality I-A out of conference home games. IF Navy will play one game at a MAC school each year (and one MAC school will play a game in Annapolis) then that is one of those 12.

BTW, once Marshall leaves, I assume they will do home and home with certain MAC schools like Miami, Toledo, Ohio, NIU, etc.

Who knows UCF also?

If those schools aren't pissy about it, each year a Marshall or UCF can visit a MAC school.

So if we have a Navy (or Army) each year visiting MAC, Marshall or UCF, etc. that is 2 of the 12 need non-conference home games. [B] 03-wink
Kent has 3 Navy games scheduled in the next 5 years. (1 home-2 road)
Sounds good for Kent.

BTW, I really am interested to see how Marshall handles OOC games.

Marshall can play their C-USA schedule and then do one game / year with a MAC school or even two when the schedule is 12 games.

That is a win for Marshall and a win for the MAC opponent.

Adds a quality rival to the non-confernce schedule for each party.

As for UCF, I say invite them to Ypsi, DeKalb, K'zoo, Mt. P, etc. for a mid-November game on the frozen tundra

I can say emphatically that they would rather avoid such a fate.... :chair:
