This isn't about whether or not the MAC should add YSU, because we already know that YSU is happy in DI-AA, but do you want to see YSU in the MAC?
I voted no, but I'd change it to a maybe if Akron or Kent left the league and to a yes if both left the league.

I voted yes. But, would have to agree that only if we were to lose Kent or Akron to 1-A. YSU can make the attendance requirement! I'm not sure Kent will ever make that leep. Sorry.
:chair:
Only as a back-up plan if we lose our two NE Ohio football playing members (Akron and Kent). Even then, we may want to make it a football only offer since I'm pretty sure YSU is pretty bad in most all sports outside of football.

I would add that I don't expect both Akron and Kent to drop down, but unless the IA rule is weakened from the proposal I think one of the two (plus EMU) could be in jeopardy, which is why the WKU and MTSU options are interesting.

Remember, too, Chryst might want to go to 14 schools (13 football playing with WKU later) as a "safety net" even before any IA losses are apparent. In that way, he won't have to worry about future MACC TV contracts, etc. Can you imagine the chaos if we don't expand, and then lose one or two members to the IA rule? Then, we'd have to either suck it up and abandon the MACC, or take whatever we have to keep at 12 members.

You know, it could be possible with 14 football playing members that one or two schools could either be in the restricted category, or even IAA, for a year while the conference allows them to stay and still has 12 members at IA to stage a championship game.

YSU sounds like they'd have the makings of a good MAC team.
NO = 34
YES = 6
DON'T KNOW = 2

Surprised no YSU fans have posted on this thread.
I used to want YSU in the MAC, but I don't think YSU has the athletic budget to join. YSU's other sports are subpar. I like YSU in IAA where there are a chance for playoffs and compete in the best IAA conference. Although YSU's attendance usually avg's above 17k+ every year, games would sell out more often when Ohio MAC teams came to town and also the likes of former IAA rival Marshall.
