Saw the game on Empire Sports.

Might be the greatest crowd ever for a MAC game (i.e., two MAC teams, no Indiana, OSU, etc.).

Tons of great plays on both sides. P.J. Smith and Marcus Smallwood made some reallly great plays. Ibhidi, Battle, etc. etc. had great games for UB.

By greatest you might mean filled with the most energy.

OU has sold out MAC contests before.

13k.....
Kit-Cat - for a MAC game (i.e., between two MAC teams)?

I know that Ohio has had sellouts for non-conference games (e.g. vs. Kentucky) and other non-conference opponents.
most of our top crowds are MAC oppoments

most of our loudest are when we have our 8000 best fans, though
Ball State has had several sellouts (11,500) for MAC games: 1992 vs Miami (1st game in Worthen Arena) and 1998 vs Northern Illinois (the night Bonzi Wells broke the MAC scoring record) come immediately to mind. Good to see us discussing sellout crowds and including Buffalo in the conversation. Who would have thought it?
Gee, was I wrong!!

Indeed it is nice to talk about fire marshall games - UB might have been 500 over capacity.

UB folks on the telecast are all psyched about hosting Syracuse in FB Sept 11.

Hoping for a full house on that one too.
Hey, glad some of you were able to catch the game on Empire. The whole thing definitely exceeded the hype! There probably has never been a MAC team in history that was so happy to NOT get a bye for the 1st round. UB wanted and needed to showcase a first round home game like that.
NIU played a great game for about 30 minutes. I don't know how they could shoot 60% and still lose by 17? The game was much closer than the final score for the most part. Yassin Idbihi was a MAN last night and UB would not have won without him IMO...it's scary that he's only in his 1st year. The fact that 5 or 6 different guys could lead UB in scoring on any given night shows what a tough team they are to defend.
Looking forward to Toledo on Thursday night. I sure hope Empire or some other Fox Sports station picks up the telecast.
UB is winning the classic way, with an excellent PG, Turner Battle, and Idhibi's great post play. NIU didn't have a center and got eaten up inside. Smallwood is a great rebounder/scorer, but he is a forward.

The bottom (nite) half of Thursday's bracket is great with Western and then UB/UT.

Good chance for UB fans to "pack the house." (I believe Cleveland is what a 3 hour drive from Buffalo?)

A UB/WMU semi could be a great game and the semi will be on Tv.
Don't forget the 1993 game against Miami for the MAC regular season title, LongtimeFan. The "House of Payne" game!

Also, Bonzi's legendary dropping the quadruple dime on Gary Trent and Ohio in the home finale in '95. Also sellouts. We've also had 10,000 plus on several occasions for MAC games.

EMU Steve has a short memory for an old-school MAC man...
03-wink
You're right, PapaLou. Also, the Western Michigan game in either 1992 or '93 was a sellout. I can't remember which year right now. Etched in my memory is watching the Western coach and Dick Hunsaker talking and looking up at the assembled crowd prior to the game with great admiration and awe.
