I guess I'll play the game.

Do any of our WKU and MTSU posters know what these schools have in terms of TV?

As many know, there are over 25 Fox Sports regionals (carried on DirecTV). There is a lot of local production and ESPN+ stuff done all over the country that most sports fans aren't aware.

My ?:

How much TV does these two schools do? Do they televise on Fox Sports (e.g., Fox Sports South)?

Marshall (ISP and their Thundering Herd Network) and UCF (Sunshine Network) will be big losses to MAC TV.

We need to get Empire (if they stay in business), Fox Sports Chicago (their plate is full of telecasts, though), etc. to get more TV games produced and on the airwaves.

I'd love to see Fox Sports Chicago do a few NIU FB games and Empire do some UB bball.
You might see that in the future from fox sports net chicago. They are going to lose the cubs, white sox, bulls and blackhawks next year. They are starting a new channel owned by all the sports franchises and comcast. So basicly fox sports net chicago lost all of chicago sports except for college. They are going to need to add a lot of new programming.
that was the type of info I was fishing for.

I'd heard that Fox Sports Chicago couldn't do more NIU games because their schedule was so packed with the team you mention.

Now it appears that they can do a lot of B12, MAC, etc. games.
The BIG question will be--can they generate enough revenue from those to stay in business in Chicago? Losing all those pro teams is a crushing blow to your advertising sales.

Except all those teams suck.
Word out of Buffalo is that Adelphia is going to pull the plug on Empire Sports after the Sabres season ends.
It's funny someone should mention these two schools.
Just last night, one of the TV personalies at the Gund asked me "what do you think of WKU and MTSU joining the MAC?
Had an interesting discussion.
I guess there are talks, but just that.
Many in the MAC are dead-set against any sort of expansion.
Still, it looks like there are some feelers out there though of schools looking at us.
La-Tech may be joining the Sun Belt soon since C-USA doesn't seem to want them.

Don't be surprised to see a replacement come in very quickly.

Always a chance that someone else may buy Empire. Let's hope so.

Buffalo has to come up with an outlet for their hockey team, if there is a season next year.
I know that WKU has it own network called the Hilltopper Sports Satillite Network (HSSN) for covering games. It reaches about 13M people according to its web site.

Very impressive. Several games were on TV this year.
We (Middle Tennessee) appear on CSS regionally and some on Nashville's local stations. We've been on ESPN2 and when we play Tennessee/Alabama/Etc we have appeared on pay per view. I think that our game with mizzou was on ESPN last year. The biggest thing is the fact that the Metro Nashville MSA (Metro Service Area) has about 1.2 million people in it and that's a pretty good local audience IMO, especially when the MAC may want to impress the local high school talent.
CSS? (I'm not familiar with that acronym).

What Fox Sports serves the greater Nashville area?
Comcast Sports South

All of our home football games are televised locally (Murfreesboro/Smyrna) on MTTV. We have a large Mass Commnunications Department that draws students from near and far, producing many anchors, sports folks, etc. on various televison networks, including the sister of Oprah Winfery (Karla). The mass com folks do the home football games.

We also appear on CSS quite a bit, which is shown throughout the southeast (Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast) to :

<a href='http://www.css-sports.com/findus.htm' target='_blank'>http://www.css-sports.com/findus.htm</a>

CSS currently airs in 11 states and approximately four million households. From basketball/football to outdoor shows to original programming, CSS is your source for sports in the southeast.

We are often picked up regionally (Nashville market) when playing the BC$ schools.

In addition, there are also plans to become a member of Memphis Grizzlies TV, which is to form its own television network some time in the near future, showing baseball, basketball, and football state-wide.

I do think that sometimes the TV games take away from our football attendance. We have quite a few "bandwagon" and "fence-sitting" fans who would rather watch ut-obknoxiousville on the tube than come see us in person (especially if weather is bad). We need to step it up, attendance-wise and record-wise in the 2004 football season.

I think we'll average at least 15k (butts in seats) this season. We are getting ready for a media blitz and promotion of our upcoming football season shortly.

By the way, how does one post photos/pics on this site? I'm relatively new here. Also, when I place my cursor above the buttons at the top of the posts, I get a "do you wish to debug" message. Any ideas to remedy the problem? Thx in advance!
My guess would be the mac doesnt really want to expand. If they do its because CUSA takes a couple of mac schools... I think they are probably just covering their bases.
