Spoke with reps of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, here are the updates through today.

1) Will begin in 2005, Army or Navy versus MAC. No one specific yet to announce.
2) Marshall vs. Akron in Cleveland for 2004 not looking good. No one is excited about a Friday night game where high school football rules. Likely pushed back to either a Thursday or Saturday inn Akron.
3) 2006 Patriot Game is Wisconsin vs. BG.
4) 2007 Patriot Game will be Army or Navy vs. MAC. No other details to date for this, Air Force is not part of these deals.

That's it for now folks on this issue.

Still getting the run around about the Indy Bowl and whatever third bowl bid the MAC can get for 2004. I'm starting to lose my faith in this issue with nothing to add for over a month.
Nick, I know they need to get the title sponsor in place for the proposed INdy game, but it wouldn't surprise me if they still pull this off, but start it in 2005 once the conference re-alignments are completely set. Then, the "new" BE can better align itself (with its new midwest members UL and UC) with the Indy Bowl and the MAC.
This sounds good, but why is it called the Patriot bowl? Shouldn't Navy/Army be the "Patriot" bowl?

Its not often you make sense, but in this case I have wondered the same thing. I've reasoned that maybe it has something to do with MAC football being in heart of middle America. There is no area of the country that is as patriotic as the area in which MAC football is played.
Do you see a reshuffling of bowl tie-ins based on the conference realignments? Will the ACC get boosted up to 8 bids, and conferences like C-USA the Big East lose one or two? And, in light of the MAC being so strong last season, could they get another tie-in? - Chris, Evanston IL

Whould the Akron/Marshall game still be nationally televised if it is moved to a Thursday or Saturday??
Yeah, HF4L, because some dipshit at College Football News actually is involved in the discussions...

TJROCKET and KT ....you need to lay off the crack 03-banghead

The Patriot Bowl is to be an OOC game in Cleveland....Ohio MAC vs a service acad.

The Indy Bowl is a bowl game to be in Indianapolis.....most likely MAC vs Big East
