So, here's how the MAC will shake out this fall:

East
1. Marshall - will surpise many, Pruett says best team since 1999.
2. Miami - Loss of Big Ben will hurt, plus plays in Huntington on a Wednesday night.
3. Akron - Frye is an asset, their defense is a liability.
4. UCF - Expections and talent have decreased proportionally.
5. Ohio - They gotta win sometime, right?
6. Buffalo - No Cribbs at KSU, Bulls "upset" Kent?
7. Kent State - No Cribbs, no offense.

West
1. Toledo - Most stable program in the West, Gradkowski the real deal.
2. Bowling Green - Lose too many on the field leaders to beat Toledo.
3. NIU - Novak has done a great job but also looses playmaking talent.
4. Western Mich - On the rise, but record won't show it.
5. Central Mich - Teetering between moving upward or living in the cellar.
6. Ball State - Who wants to play football at Testicle Tech?
7. Eastern Michigan - At least the scenery in eastern Michigan is beautiful.

Alrighty then, any thoughts from you's guy's? :)
So who do you think will win the MACC?
Here is how I see it in March, by August it may change.

East
1. Marshall - Solid team for last harrah in MAC - killer schedule though.
2. Miami - Still has enough talent for a MAC title run.
3. Akron - New coach, new attitude, not quite championship form.
4. UCF - Could finish anywhere from second to sixth, so put them in the middle.
5. Ohio - Just might be the first MAC team to begin the new coaching search this year.
6. Buffalo - Better, but not moving as fast as the rest of the MAC in terms of talent.
7. Kent State - When does basketball season begin?

West
1. Toledo - Hate to be a 'Rocket Homer' but this team could go undefeated this year.
2. NIU - Another solid Novak team that falls just short.
3. BG - New QB, lots of talent, but road games to NIU & Toledo = no return divisional title.
4. Western Mich - Will be better than their record will indicate - most difficult schedule in the MAC this season.
5. Central Mich - Will be better and their schedule is very favorable.
6. EMU - Just may surprise people and be quite respectable.
7. Ball State - I really like Brady Hoke but the OOC schedule is a real bear and they do not have a QB. Overall schedule ranks as either #2 or #3 as MAC's most difficult. Sorry Card fans, but at least you have the best looking dance squad with those 'Code Red' girls.
In March, the MACC is hard to call.

I'll go with Marshall hosting Toledo.

49-45 Herd wins!!! Chryst craps!!!
Well I already put my predictions for every school on one thread so I will just put my winners out here:

East Winner - Marshall (They have Miami and UCF at home)
West Winner - Toledo

MAC Championship - Toledo 42 Marshall 38

Motor City Bowl
Toledo 35
Wisconsin 24

GMAC Bowl
Marshall 42
Cincinnati 28
RF-

Interesting. MAC wins over both C-USA and future Big East in bowl games.

Should be an interesting year. :)

And our season ends November 13th for an early off season to kick start recruiting with a new staff.

From what I'm hearing its win or else this season for Knorr. I expect about 3 wins overall from the Bobcats this season, given Knorr's consistant inability to beat a quality opponent.
If we finish behind Akron, I will personally come to everyone's house and kiss all your @sses. Our expectations are higher, our talent is in place, and FINALLY we have hard work in practice and focus. I'm still not convinced last year was a sign of waht this team can do. Last year was just a total disaster.

I will agree that our schedule is tough. OOC games will be tough, we play AT Miami and Marshall back to back, and get NIU at home.

Offering rim jobs on a public message board is nasty and no way to try and get back in our good graces.
 Not to mention that Akron will be very good this fall. I expect Akron to give Marshall, Miami, and UCF tough games. I think Akron finishes behind Marshall and Miami, but ahead of UCF.
At least no one who has posted predictions is biased toward their school!!! I realize that is sports and I certainly hope BG wins the West, but to be honest it will be tough because of the road games at UT and NIU. It will all depend on Omar Jacobs at Quarterback and how well he plays. The running game and receiving corps are outstanding and the defense should be improved, so I think the Falcons could surprise some people this year.

I think NIU has as many questions at this point, so I think Toledo is the clear favorite in the West with BG And NIU close behind. But, at this point last year, NIU was the clear favorite and look what happened. It is fine with me that for the second straight year a lot of people are overlooking BG.

It will be interesting to see how Gradkowski does in his second year as a starter and how well the Rocket defense holds up. If Gradkowski continues to master the short passing game and the defense doesn't lose games, UT could have a great season. Going unbeaten probably wouldn't be out of the question. They don't play any high powered BCS schools, so you never know. Obviously, 10-1 sounds good to me, the lone loss coming to BG, thus sending the Falcons to their second consecutive MAC title game.

Should be another great season in the MAC and I can't wait for September 4. GO FALCONS!
NIU also had to play VERY talented BGSU & Toledo teams on the road, this year, we have both at home. Hopefully there will be no more 3 & 33 conversions this year. 05-nono

The Akron game really scares me.Miami and UCF at home we should be ok.If our revamped O-line holds up
MACC

Marshall 34
Toledo 24

:)
Opposing defenses will have more to worry about than just the short passing game this season. 03-wink
West:

1) BGSU
2) NIU
3) UT
4) WMU
5) EMU
6) CMU
7) Ball State

East:

1) Miami
2) Akron
3) Marshall
4) UCF
5) Kent
6) Ohio
7) Buffalo

Why am I picking BG? First, I am extremely biased and think BG has the best team in the West.
17 starters return along with 54 lettermen!

Second, we have 8 starters coming back on offense. BG is more than a one man team. As long as Omar Jacobs gets in a groove, NOBODY touches BG in the West. Our ENITRE receiving corps and stable of running backs returns along with 4 starters on the O line. BG will return 4,043 yards and 29 TD catches. BG returns 1,882 rushing yards and 16 TD's. Among returning players, BGSU averaged 5.1 ypc.

Third, our defense has 9 starters coming back including studs like Mitchell Crossley, Matt Leininger, Devon Parks, Jovon Burkes and Keon Newson. I think our d will be better than '03.

Fourth, so we have road games at NIU and UT? Does that mean automatic losses? Hell no. If we are gonna be the team in the West, we'll find ways to win those games....and I think we will.

I'm with other Falcon fans....go ahead and overlook BG and pick someone else to win the West. It happened last yr as some publications had BGSU 4th in the West. Predictions are a great thing for discussion and a starting point. I'm more interested in how we finish.
BG has work to do, no doubt. But we are far from "one and done" as some here would think or wish. BG won the West last year but DID NOT win the MAC...the ULTIMATE GOAL.

BGSU-defending 2003 West Champs will repeat in '04.

MACC? BG gets revenge with a win in Oxford.

GO FALCONS!!!

Nothing to worry about until limp-wrist proves he can consistently throw the ball more than 10 yards downfield. And NO, one lucky pass against BG and one blown coverage on 3rd and 33 is not consistency!

Toledo has had a new QB in each of the last three years and all have put up similar completion percentages because of the offensive schemes with the bubble screens and short downfield patterns to big TE's.

In addition, with only one proven RB this year who is undersized, he will need to stay healthy and fresh all year or the offense will become even more predictable.

I look for Toledo to have considerably more designed runs by the QB this year.

Should be a fun year!!
I am a Miami grad, so of course I am biased on this one but here goes.

MAC East

1. Miami - overall record - 11-0
2. Akron 9-2
3. Marshall 6-5 (Georgia, Ohio State, Miami in a row = Tough times)
4. Ohio 3-8
5. Buffalo 2-9
6. UCF 2-9
7. Kent State 1-10

MAC West

1. Toledo 10-1
2. BGSU 9-2
3. NIU 6-5
4. W. Mich 5-6
5. C. Mich 6-5
6. Ball State 4-7
7. E. Mich 4-7

MAC Title = Miami over Toledo!!

Just stay tuned. He is not in his first year and the coaches are prepared to unleash the Spread Offense.
